Are you obsessed with data, partner success, taking action, and changing the game? If you have a whole lot of hustle and a touch of nerd, come work with Pattern! We want you to use your skills to push one of the fastest-growing companies headquartered in the US to the top of the list.

Pattern accelerates brands on global ecommerce marketplaces leveraging proprietary technology and AI. Utilizing more than 46 trillion data points, sophisticated machine learning and artificial intelligence (“AI”) models, Pattern optimizes and automates key levers of ecommerce  growth for global brands, including advertising, content creation and management, pricing, forecasting and customer service. Hundreds of global brands depend on Pattern’s ecommerce  acceleration platform every day to drive profitable revenue growth on D2C websites and across hundreds of global marketplaces—including Amazon, Walmart.com, Target.com, eBay, Tmall, TikTok Shop, JD, and Mercado Libre.

Pattern has been named one of the fastest growing tech companies headquartered in North America by Deloitte and one of best-led companies by Inc. We place employee experience at the center of our business model and have been recognized as one of Newsweek’s Global Most Loved Workplaces®.

At Pattern, we’re building products that empower creative teams to work faster, smarter, and at a higher level of impact. Our engineers collaborate directly with designers, content creators, and storytellers to develop tools that remove bottlenecks, reveal new possibilities, and integrate AI where it can make the biggest difference.

We move quickly, iterate alongside our users, and give engineers the autonomy to own projects end-to-end. AI isn’t an afterthought—it’s a core capability we use daily to accelerate creative workflows, enhance experience design, and explore entirely new formats and outputs.

We’re seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead a small team of 1–2 senior engineers and work hand-in-hand with creative stakeholders. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you’ll set engineering direction, ensure delivery excellence, and build trust with creative partners by deeply understanding their processes and needs. You’ll balance architectural vision with day-to-day problem-solving, guiding your team to produce tools that elevate creative work and infuse AI into areas of opportunity.

Problem Spaces You May Work In

    • Your team will operate across a variety of creative and technical initiatives, such as:
    • Content Analysis & Insights — evaluating creative assets (video, imagery, copy) to identify performance drivers and improvement opportunities.
    • AI-Augmented Content Creation — developing tools that help creatives brainstorm, prototype, and produce assets faster while preserving their style and intent.
    • Workflow Automation for Creative Teams — integrating with design, video, and publishing pipelines to remove manual steps and accelerate iteration.
    • Data-Driven Creative Testing — building systems that combine creative experimentation with analytics to guide decision-making.

Leadership & Collaboration Responsibilities

    • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and code reviews for 1–2 senior engineers.
    • Partner closely with creative stakeholders to translate needs into clear engineering initiatives.
    • Own architectural decisions and ensure long-term maintainability and scalability.
    • Set development priorities, balancing quick wins with foundational improvements.
    • Champion AI integration where it drives meaningful creative impact.
    • We hire for leadership and engineering excellence, not just specific tools. If you’re willing to adopt our stack, we want to talk—even if your background differs.

Languages & Frameworks:

    • Python, FastAPI, React
    • Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS
    • Data: SQL

What You’ll Do

    • Lead a high-autonomy engineering team delivering production-grade creative tools.
    • Shape and communicate architectural vision while contributing hands-on code.
    • Build systems with strong observability, testing, and maintainability.
    • Iterate quickly with direct feedback from creatives, ensuring tools deliver real value.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

What We’re Looking For

    • Significant experience (typically 7+ years) building and operating production software, with at  least 2+ years in a technical leadership capacity.
    • Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead small, high-performing teams.
    • Strong technical skills across backend, frontend, and cloud systems.
    • Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration, especially with creative or design-focused teams.
    • Curiosity, adaptability, and sound judgment when integrating AI into workflows.
