Pattern is currently seeking a results-driven and collaborative Sales Engineer to join our dynamic sales organization. In this role, you will be a critical technical and strategic partner to the sales team, focused on acquiring new brand partners.
As a key player in our growth engine, you will work across sales, ads, data science, brand management, finance, and other internal teams to drive strategies that are instrumental in closing new partnerships. A central part of your role will be to act as the subject matter expert on key marketplaces like Amazon, along with the full suite of Pattern's capabilities. Your expertise will be vital on sales calls, inspiring confidence in our ability to accelerate a brand's success.
The full-time role is based in our modern and friendly Shanghai office. We are a fast-growing company with a can-do culture that will suit someone who prefers not to work in a highly corporate environment.

What is a day in the life of an eCommerce Sales Engineer?
- Acquiring new brand partners through identifying high potential accounts
- Building data-driven, compelling business cases that engage brands and set the right expectations that Pattern can deliver on
- Working across sales, ads, data science, brand management, finance, and other teams to drive strategies that assist in closing new brand partners
- Being the subject matter expert on marketplaces like Tmall and Amazon (and more), and Pattern capabilities such that Account Executives always want you on sales calls to drive confidence in Pattern expertise & ability to grow their brand
- Supporting a smooth transition from sales to brand management
- Proactively coordinate with various stakeholders (domestically & internationally) to prioritize projects
- Present business cases to potential accounts (executive teams)
- Serve as an expert on all things eCommerce and have a deep understanding of APAC marketplace opportunities & how effectively the brand can perform in each market
What will I need to thrive in this role?
- 4-5 years' experience in eCommerce – expertise and strong experience directly working with China marketplaces / Amazon
- Deep understanding of strengths & weaknesses and economics of marketplaces
- Experience pulling data and insights on brands (or similar), understands key success metrics for a brand in an eCommerce environment
- Experience with profitability modelling and analysis, translating data into insights and ability to be client facing, talk brands through complex data
- Strong proficiency in English and Mandarin, both verbal and written.
- Analytical - experienced with Excel/Google Sheets and building presentations to communicate with executives
- Communicates in a clear, concise manner and can tailor messaging to the audience (e.g. exec level vs. mid-level management level)
- Prioritizes daily activities to ensure materials are prepped for highest priority potential accounts and reps are prepped with insights
- Understands the context and pain points of various accounts to tailor messaging, decks, etc. to meet those needs
- Works efficiently cross-functionally and internationally; builds relationships and leverages expertise of various departments to build better business cases and/or reinforce Pattern capabilities
- Has a solid grasp on industry stats/Pattern proof points and process qualitative/quantitative data to create value for potential partners and stays up-to-speed on industry trends and Pattern capabilities to drive value for brands

- You will work with the other full-time Revenue Operations team members and Sales & Marketing leadership as well as be supervised by the Head of Revenue Operations. This team is data-driven and results oriented. You will collaborate regularly with members of your team to implement actionable solutions.
