Paws is disrupting the global pet industry, bringing game changing innovation and customer wow to the way we love and live with our pets. Worldwide, 57% of consumers have a pet, it's a $100bn dollar global industry. Yet caring for an animal isn't always affordable or easy. We're changing that.

We believe that with all the benefits of the digital age, nothing can beat a familiar wet nose or wagging tail, and that the relationships between pets and their owners are some of the deepest and most positive on the planet. Paws is also dedicated to helping less fortunate pets, by supporting shelters, plus encouraging and educating pet owners in new and engaging ways.

You’ll be joining our founding team of experienced, successful startup high flyers and entrepreneurs (multiple £100m+ exits previously), in our state of the art HQ near Exmouth Market - and you can bring your dog to work of course!

This role is an initial 9-month contract

As one of the founding members of the Paws Creative Team, you’ll be the driving force developing and launching our identity in the real world, and hugely influential in shaping a new brand that we hope will become a household name. Proven experience we'd love you to have…

Hands-on creation of effective brand comms, from whiteboard to launch and beyond. You’ll have designed live comms for e-commerce brands, across digital, emails, social, print, merchandising, packaging, co-branding and more. You'll have personally taken projects from concept to artwork to launch to ‘which performs best?’ to tweaking to starting again.

Love of working regularly with our UI designers and UX specialists, and basic web design knowledge - making sure that you’re bringing a different perspective and that together we're creating a distinctive, ownable identity at every touchpoint. You'll be famous for your positive collaboration style. We’ve no place for ‘product vs. creative’ shenanigans.

A knack for getting involved in projects across Paws, you'll be known and welcomed across the company, using visual design to make a difference everywhere, in true startup style. You'll be one of the most plugged in members of the company, up to date with pivots, messaging changes and measurement learnings as we create and accelerate this new brand. You suggest what you should work on, writing your own briefs, never waiting for them to come to you.

A desire for testing your work by launching it and seeing who clicks is essential, and using the results to make it even more effective next time. We’re not an art gallery, we’re a business, intent on making life a whole lot better for pets and their owners, so you’ll be a commercial, strategic thinker who combines their huge design talent with business nouse.

Good at presenting your work, you're always influencing others to believe in your creative ideas and taking people across the company on a journey with you as our new brand comes to life.

Great experience in managing design work efficiently in a small, fast-moving team - you don't reinvent the wheel on small things, yet you unleash big thinking and a totally new approach when the time is right. You'll also be a Guidelines Genius - creating and updating a great immersive intro to the brand, that'll get any other creative right up to speed.

Though you produce a lot of work yourself, you’re well-versed in hiring and managing great freelancers and juniors to support you when needed, you enjoy sharing your skills, strategic thinking and enthusiasm with them - you're someone all the creatives look up to.

You'll also be a super user of the full Adobe Suite!

Desirable experience

- Design and measurement of above-the-line ad campaigns.
- Motion, photography and art direction for both product and brand.
- Managing and feeding back on the design work of creative agencies.

- You'll know and love life in a startup, where things change fast and 'flexible' is your middle name.
- You'll be great at setting your own work and getting stuff done, but also making sure everyone around is on board with your plans.
- As a founding team, we're all going to spend a lot of time together, so being good company in both smooth and bumpy times is pretty important!
