How you can help

We are looking for a Director of Business Development to lead our efforts across health plans/ payors who is passionate about the power of Paytient's platform and mission to help remove cost as a barrier to care for millions of Americans. You will support that mission by deepening existing relationships with our pilot health plans, with an eye towards growing the number of lives on the platform, as well as developing new product and marketing partnerships both inside and outside of healthcare.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating across Paytient’s product and engineering teams to identify and structure successful partnerships that drive growth, and you will have the full support of our Marketing, Legal and Design teams to help you in building and executing these deals.

This role reports to our Chief Commercial Officer, and you can work from our Columbia, MO office, or anywhere within the United States.


    • Expand Paytient’s footprint through strategic partnerships with health plans and Third Party Administrators (TPAs) across the US
    • Define the strategy for how to best approach different “segments” of partners (e.g., national versus regional players)
    • Scout, scope, and prioritize strategic partnerships by engaging potential partners on their goals and challenges and sizing potential impact
    • Own the partnership lifecycle from “pitch to implementation”
    • Use business value analysis to structure and negotiate terms and pricing
    • Partner with Product and Engineering to support implementation as needed (e.g., functional design of product enhancements)
    • Track and analyze performance of ongoing deals, ensuring continued partner satisfaction
    • Provide feedback to Product and Marketing teams based on partner market research and requests, informing our future feature roadmap and messaging/content strategy


    • 5+ years work experience in working at – or deeply involved with – health plans/ payors
    • Deep familiarity with the US healthcare ecosystem, and preferably consumer-driven healthcare (CDHC)
    • Ability to structure complex, first of their kind deals with large and small companies
    • Project management leadership experience, including an ability to concurrently lead multiple, time-sensitive projects across cross-functional teams
    • Exceptional communication skills, with experience influencing senior leadership
    • Strong conceptual and analytical problem solving skills
    • Comfortable with ambiguity – thrives in unstructured environments and desires ownership
    • Ability to travel (eventually…)
    • BA/BS or equivalent experience
    • Optional but helpful; experience working at an early stage startup
    • Permanent US work authorization required
