Merchant Monitoring is one of the core pillars of the Operations Department, responsible for reviewing current activities of PayU merchants across the EMEA region. The team enhances controls on the merchant portfolio to reduce key risks such as AML, fraud, credit exposure, and sanctions violations.
We’re looking for a hands-on Merchant Risk Monitoring Manager to oversee and develop our AML transaction monitoring processes for merchants. You’ll lead a team of analysts, ensure effective risk detection, and continuously improve our internal controls and workflows through automation and process optimization.
This role is ideal for someone who brings both strong AML/CFT experience and people leadership and thrives in a fast-paced fintech environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of escalation and subject matter expert in AML/CFT for internal and team queries; provide expert guidance on complex cases
- Lead key projects and process improvements within merchant monitoring; own initiatives end-to-end to ensure high-impact delivery, efficiency, and scalability
- Oversee and continuously optimizemonitoring processes, including automation and standardization; identify gaps and implement robust solutions
- Drive innovation and operational excellence, ensuring processes align with evolving regulatory expectations and business needs
- Coach, mentor, and lead a team of analysts responsible for merchant monitoring and transaction reviews
- Co-operatewith Regulators, Legal, Compliance, Business and Technology Departments to improve merchant monitoring processes to the highest standards
- Draft and maintaininternal procedures and playbooks for merchant transaction monitoring
- Support internal reporting on KPIs, efficiency, and quality
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of experience in AML/CFT, preferably in a fintech, payments or e-commerce context
- Strong people leadership skills; proven ability to lead operational teams in fast paced environment while keeping up with business priorities
- Excellent understanding of AML/CFT regulations, policies, procedures,
- Strong decision-making skills in high-volume, risk-sensitive environments
- Proven track record of building and delivering improvement projects in the AML or transaction monitoring area on a company level
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Polish
- Analytical mindset with experience in Excel, Tableau or similar; SQL is a plus
