Role Overview
As an Quality Analyst you will be part of an Agile team and involved in all aspects of our projects’ lifecycle from inception through release. You will work closely with the product owner, architects and software engineers to ensure the right product is built the right way. Your mandate on the team will be to maximize the quality of the production features being developed, improve the testability of the software by finding and closing gaps in test coverage, minimize the team’s overall internal defect escapes, and ensuring the software meets the user requirements, performance thresholds, and usability standards.
Although test automation isn't your primary responsibility, you will be heavily involved in writing and maintaining test automation code. You will also be working closely with the Engineering and DevOps teams helping enhance our continuous integration (CI) systems, our virtual labs, and helping build out fully automated reporting of all the various project quality metrics with a vision of achieving “push-button” reporting of a project’s software quality and trending (code coverage, static analysis, test surface coverage).
Key Responsibilities
- Design & build automation smoke, feature & regression tests
- Build mocks, emulators, fakes, stubs and test case libraries driving towards 100% acceptance test coverage of stories
- Lead and coach less experienced Quality Analysts
- Be part of an Agile team, participate in all Agile ceremonies & activities and be accountable for the sprint deliverable
- Participates in process reviews and daily scrums to inform development of products and resolution of defects
- Works with customers and PDI staff to audit requirements, identify quality problems, improve operational processes, and support the development and implementation of improved quality reporting measures
- Participate in Release/Iteration planning, smoke, feature and regression test planning
- Review code with your peers for testability, supportability and look for full unit test coverage
- Write feature use cases in BDD to drive the creation of automated and/or manual test cases
- Designs, prioritizes, and implements test plans, scenarios, scripts and procedures
- Supports quality related bug investigations and trending activities, tracking components, diagnosing issues, and recommends corrective actions
- Develops and executes test cases to diagnose issues and bugs, creating test data and documenting issues from identification to resolution
- Adheres to ‘best-practice' standards as well as departmental policies and procedures
Qualifications
- 4+ years’ experience troubleshooting and testing software applications
- Experience with SQL based RDBMS, DML & DDL (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB...)
- Experience with one or more mainstream programming languages: C#.NET, Java, Node.JS/JavaScript, Go, Python
- Familiarity with CI, CD & DevOps tools & scripting (i.e. Jenkins, Bash, PowerShell, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack Artifactory...)
- Experience writing functional E2E automation tests a plus.
- Highly motivated self-starter with a desire to help others and take action
- Requires strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms.

- Preferred: Fuel Retail, Wholesale or Logistics domain experience
