The Role:
 
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven VP of Finance and Accounting to lead and manage our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have experience working at one or more online marketplace companies and will have a deep understanding of the financial and operational challenges faced by these companies.  Experience with multiple wholly-owned subsidiaries in international markets with related Fx and jurisdictional tax implications is a plus.
 
Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Finance and Accounting will be responsible for managing the finance and accounting function, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, banking, tax, external audit and financial reporting. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of financial systems and processes, and the ability to drive change and growth in a fast-paced environment.
 
Responsibilities:
 
       Lead and manage the finance and accounting function, including supervision of Controller, Staff Accountant and Sr Mgr FP&A as well as managing the relationship with external tax & audit partners (both domestic and international).
       Review audit schedules and work papers prepared by the accounting team. 
       Manage and assist with the coaching of a high-performing professional accounting team.
       Participate in cross-functional projects and/or special projects as opportunities arise.
       Develop and implement internal control guidelines, financial and operational policies and procedures that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
       Ensure delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and Board summaries
       Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, including the development of long-range financial plans, cash flow projections and inherent operational metrics
       Analyze financial data and provide insights and recommendations to the CEO and other members of the executive team.
       Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and other members of the executive team.
       Lead internal reporting requirements with Engineering/Product teams to ensure all financial reporting supports accounting treatment and audit requirements.
 
Requirements:
 
       Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
       At least 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
       Experience working at venture-backed companies.
       Experience with NetSuite and Adaptive Planning is a plus.
       Experience working at one or more online marketplace companies is a big plus.
       Experience working in with multiple currency consumer transactions and operations,
       Strong understanding of financial systems and processes, including GAAP accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting and forecasting.
       Strong understanding of international taxation practices in Canada, Australia, UK and EU jurisdictions as it relates to corporate income tax and sales/use taxation is a plus.
       Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
       Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, including the ability to motivate and inspire others.
       Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
 
The annual salary range for this role is $180,000-$260,000. The actual salary amount will vary depending on the applicants experience, skills and abilities as well as internal equity and market data.
