The Weather Presentation System Specialist is the resident expert with operational and technical knowledge of the current weather presentation system, Baron LynxTM. This role will take the lead of weather presentation system infrastructure including hardware and software related to the weather presentation system. The Weather Presentation System Specialist will partner with key stakeholders to train them on using Baron system and help them produce custom and automated videos tailored to meet client needs cross-platform.
Please note this is a 20 month Contract position until January 2026
WHAT'S THE DAY TO DAY LIKE?
- Main contact with weather presentation system company (Baron) on issues, upgrades, enhancements
- Partner with Pelmorex media engineering and I.T. teams with regards to the weather presentation system
- Coordinate and lead backend data flow into the weather presentation system in partnership with media engineering and I.T. teams
- Manage weather presentation system for all of Pelmorex including El Tiempo, MeteoMedia, Clima, and The Weather Network
- Create and design templates for use in videos for Pelmorex
- Create and design templates for external clients (possible B2B clients)Aid in the day-to-day speciality creation of frames and sequences for Pelmorex
- Manage the overall look and feel of the weather presentation system in conjunction with graphics and user experience departments
- Participate in creating video content and live streaming content for all platforms
- Manage the processes for creation of products and use of weather presentation system
- Organize and/or facilitate training for new users on the weather presentation system
Roles, responsibilities and duties may evolve and change over time.
WE ARE HOPING YOU HAVE:
- Degree in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology or related discipline
- Strong knowledge of North American meteorology, climates and geography
- Strong operational and technical knowledge of Baron LynxTM
- Proven ability to create custom and automated videos in Baron telling the weather story in a dynamic way that wows customers
