As the Technical Lead in the IT Operations team, your primary responsibility is to lead and support operational activities in a 24/7 environment. This entails improving efficiency, resolving technical issues, fostering best practices, and guiding the team. You'll also evaluate new technologies and bridge any skill gaps within the team. Key tasks include developing and implementing IT Operations best practices, such as incident, change, and problem management processes. Additionally, you'll lead architectural discussions, oversee design and implementation, and provide support for Linux, Windows, multi-cloud setups (AWS, Azure, GCP), and on-prem VMWare virtualization. Ensuring flawless operations through proactive monitoring, backup, recovery, and maintenance is crucial. Regular vulnerability assessments will also be conducted to identify and address security weaknesses, thereby enhancing the overall security posture.
This is a hybrid role. You are required to be at the office a minimum of 3 days a week and as needed. You are also required to be on-call in rotation with other Systems Administrators to provide production support after business hours.

WHAT's THE DAY TO DAY LIKE?

    • Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert during the technology implementation, testing, designing, and issue resolution. 
    • Independently troubleshoot and resolve issues related to infrastructure and applications, and provide day-to-day support for servers, storage, and third-party tools. 
    • Conduct investigations of specific operational areas, analyze the performance of existing systems, generate improved designs of these systems, and run pilot implementations in the testing environment.
    • Lead the service capacity planning, demand forecasting, software performance evaluation, and system tuning. Provide after-hours support for infrastructure-related emergencies as well as occasional weekend maintenance.
    • Interact with customers and staff at the technical level, as required. Analyze, evaluate, and recommend new applications, tools, and systems.
    • Collaborate with team members to determine the root cause of problems and best practices for efficient resolution. Implement effective documentation, monitoring, disaster recovery (i.e., back-ups), user support systems and practices.
    • You’ll conduct research in support of help desk technology, Pelmorex systems and communicate these findings to the operations team with the objective of improving system efficiency and lowering operational costs, Install and configure server software and server based application packages in a physical and virtual VMware environment, including physical installations in the computer room.
    • Conduct and monitor regular security access and vulnerability diagnostics, and remediate any risks and issues.
    • Perform risk assessments of information systems and infrastructure; develop appropriate risk treatment and mitigation options, and effectively articulate findings and recommendations to IT management.

WE ARE HOPING YOU HAVE

    • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline
    • 5-7 years of experience in supporting infrastructure and applications. Extensive experience with Linux (CentOS or Rocky Linux) and Windows operating systems. 
    • 2+ years of experience managing VMware environments. Hands on experience on VMs, containers, resource pools, vApps, and compute management policies. 
    • Hands-on experience with scripting languages: Perl, Python, PowerShell, bash
    • 2+ years of experience with Kubernetes, including supporting tools such as helm and Istio. Regular maintenance and updates, patching security vulnerabilities.
    • Experience with system performance monitoring and alerting, knowledge of tools such as Grafana/ Prometheus, Kibana.

NICE TO HAVE

    • Good knowledge of networking: routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, IDS, VPN, DNS, etc. and basic network understanding of underlying principles such as TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, etc. 
    • Areas of knowledge considered a plus: Google Workspace, Google Meet hardware, Cisco DUO, and Cisco WiFi
    • Hands on experience working with development tools: git, Jenkins, Sonar and good understanding of pipeline framework. 
    • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory
