About the role:
We currently have a fantastic opportunity available for a Safety Coordinator to join our Operations team based within Devon and Cornwall.  You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £31,530 - £35,700 per annum + excellent benefits.
 
The role will require you to provide rescue cover and coordination for complex and high risk tasks. You will work under the direction of the Maintenance Compliance and Safety Manager providing a duty of care to all personnel involved in tasks.

What you’ll be doing:

    • Write and document Rescue Plans.
    • Produce Risk Assessments and document Method Statements
    • Source and organise appropriate team members to undertake tasks
    • Carry out visual checks and maintain all safety equipment within the team’s ownership, ensure compliance with all legal mandates for Safety Team equipment and accessories including statutory inspections
    • Organise regular Safety Team training exercises/refresher sessions
    • Undertake necessary external training and qualifications
    • Take lead role in tasks assigned to the Safety Team
    • Carry out confined space, BA and work at height tasks when required and identifying the need for bespoke items of rescue equipment
    • Develop, evaluate and modify rescue tactics as needed
    • Provide progress reports to the Maintenance Compliance and Safety Manager
    • Maintain records and documents in relation to works carried out
    • Deliver safety briefing prior to commencement of task
    • Undertake Task and Site Risk Assessments and support functional Health and Safety requirements as necessary
    • Coordinate and lead MEICA maintenance complex projects and tasks, from inception to completion

What we are looking for:

    • Minimum5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above, including Mathematics, English and a Science subject (or equivalent)
    • A full UK driving license
    • IOSH Managing Safely Certificate
    • Confined Space Access and Rescue trained is desirable
    • Confined Space Trained
    • BA Trained
    • NEBOSH Certificate or ability to achieve
    • First Aid Qualified is desirable
    • Sufficient knowledge of all safety legislation applicable to role
    • Fitness to work to be maintained
    • Understanding of the Risk matrix and the ability to carry out Risk Assessments
    • Ability to work effectively under high pressure situations
    • The ability to assess situations quickly
