We currently have a Tactical Sewer Manager position available for a motivated individual to join our team in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £30,000 - £38,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
 
About the role
 
As the Tactical Sewer Manager you will manage the Wastewater Networks Tactical Repair Programme to assist South West Water in achieving its objective of becoming an upper quartile performing Water and Sewerage Company.

Actively seek opportunities to support efficient delivery of Outcome Delivery Incentives and drive performance benefits across the wastewater function. Project manage specific pieces of work ensuring they deliver the desired outcomes and to agreed timescales. You will also be leading on the Health and Safety activities for the Engineering Programme Development Teams.

What you’ll be doing:

    • Evaluate and develop business cases for tactical solutions to improve the performance of our sewerage network system, in particular rising mains
    • Promote the most cost beneficial solutions which provide the greatest overall benefit to the catchment
    • Regularly communicate with Catchment Asset Managers and Field Team Managers to ensure operational priorities are understood
    • Take charge of specific projects, Co-ordinate internal staff and external contractors activities to ensure the work is completed to agreed timescales and achieves the desired outcomes, resolving issues which occur and use appropriate escalation procedures as and when required
    • Lead on H&S activities for the Engineering Programme Development team, complete compliance audits/reviews to ensure contractors are working to the standards detailed within the SWW contracts
    • Research and co-ordinate responses to Environmental Information Requests on behalf of the Wastewater Network Programme Development Team
    • Manage the Sewer Network Technician, encouraging them to develop their knowledge and experience so they maximise their potential
    • Regularly review existing processes and procedures to ensure they are fit for purpose within the continually evolving working environment, implement new ways of working when potential improvements are identified
    • Provide support to the Wastewater Network Programme Development Manager in the preparation of reports, summaries, plans and responses for sharing with internal/external stakeholders and the public

What we are looking for:

    • Degree or equivalent in a related subject (Engineering or Science Based)
    • A knowledge of sewer networks, network design and network modelling
    • A flexible approach to workload and working hours
    • Full UK Drivers Licence and prepared to travel throughout the region
    • Experience of project management and co-ordination of external contractors
    • Good understanding of H&S legislation and the ability to complete assessment for compliance purposes
    • Previous experience working on own initiative and/or working as part of a team
    • A good understanding of Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to interpret data to evidence / support business case
    • Enthusiastic and motivated to achieve personal and functional objectives
