Summary of Position:

Penta uses substantive analysis to understand complex topics, and creative public affairs tools to explain issues and persuade critical stakeholders in the world's largest corporations, trade associations, non-profits, and charitable foundations. The Custom Research team is the analytical backbone that drives this analysis and enhances our clients’ understanding of issues, products, and companies, to ultimately help them achieve their goals. 

The Insights Analyst will be an integral part of a team that drives client businesses forward with data-driven decision-making. The Insights Analyst will partner with other analysts, directors, and partners to design and implement a range of qualitative and quantitative research approaches to provide insights leading to actionable strategies. 
 
This is a custom research role and blends research and statistical analysis (80%) with strategy consulting (20%). In partnership with other researchers, analysts, and decision-makers, the analyst will leverage a deep curiosity to develop questionnaires and studies that gain answers to our client’s biggest questions and help drive business objectives. 

Under the direction of leadership, this role will help translate the data into key insights and aid in presenting actionable strategies to elite clients in a compelling and insightful way. This is an ideal role for someone with an insatiable curiosity and a passion to learn, thrives in situations where they can bring clarity to ambiguous and multi-faceted problems.
 
The Role is Expected To:
- Assist in executing custom research projects, in partnership with senior staff, from proposal to presentation of key insights.
- With advice and oversight from senior staff, participate in survey design, questionnaire and discussion guide development, and preparation of analytic reports and presentations.
- Support client research needs and contribute innovative ideas and relevant solutions that exceed client expectations upon delivery.
- Proactively coordinate research operations across multiple client accounts simultaneously to ensure everything stays on schedule.
- Engage and work with vendors to ensure projects are hitting pre-established benchmarks for volume, quality, and timeliness.
- Build a comprehensive understanding of research projects and subject matter by conducting secondary research as part of informing each research engagement
- Analyze data and identify relevant trends and insights; Simplify complex data into a user-friendly format, such as graphs, charts, and other visual aids.
- Use critical thinking skills to translate raw information into actionable intelligence including preparing and presenting reports to elite clients and management.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing research, Statistics, Math, or a related field required
- Strong interest in public and/or international affairs, policy, advocacy, or political research.
- Experience running primary research projects such as surveys, focus groups, in-depth interviews, online bulletin boards, etc.
- Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research tools, such as Qualtrics, Decipher, Dedoose, R, SPSS, Stata, etc..
- Experience with advanced analytics such regression, driver analysis, choice-based modeling, etc. is a plus, but not required
- Critical understanding of data and analysis
- Relentless attention to detail and accuracy of output
- Ability to understand data visualization
- Proven track record of multi-tasking and work cross-functionally to prioritize, schedule and work against tight deadlines
- Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and related computer software packages.

Salary Range:

The starting salary for this position will be $67,000. If candidates have additional years of experience and qualifications beyond the necessary minimum, we may consider up to $87,000 for this role.

Location:

This position is for US-based personnel and is fully remote with a preference for candidates in proximity to our DC or NY offices. If you are local to one of our offices in Washington, DC, NYC, or SF, you’ll have access to work from there as space allows.
