The Procurement Officer will play a pivotal role in managing the company's supplier relationships, ensuring value for money, and upholding the stringent compliance and risk management standards inherent in the fintech sector.

This is a critical role responsible for the entire procurement lifecycle, from initial supplier identification and negotiation to ongoing performance management and due diligence.

The Procurement Officer will work cross-functionally with legal, finance, technology, and security teams to ensure all third-party engagements are robust, secure, and align with the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

    • Supplier Sourcing and Negotiation: Identify, evaluate, and select new suppliers of goods and services, with a strong focus on technology, software (including SaaS), and professional services. Lead negotiations on commercial terms, service level agreements (SLAs), and contractual obligations to secure favourable terms and mitigate risk.
    • Supplier Due Diligence: Conduct comprehensive due diligence on all potential and existing suppliers. This will involve a thorough assessment of their financial stability, technical capabilities, information security posture, data privacy policies (including GDPR compliance), and adherence to anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) regulations.
    • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to internal policies and external regulatory frameworks, including those specific to the financial services industry such as the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). Proactively identify and mitigate third-party risks, including cybersecurity threats, operational disruptions, and reputational damage.
    • Contract Management: Oversee the contract management process, ensuring that all agreements are accurately documented, and key terms are tracked. Manage contract renewals, amendments, and terminations in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers. Monitor supplier performance against agreed-upon SLAs and key performance indicators (KPIs), conducting regular reviews and addressing any issues that arise.
    • Cost Optimisation: Continuously seek opportunities to optimise procurement costs and drive value for the business without compromising on quality or security. Analyse spending patterns and market trends to identify potential savings.
    • Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and refinement of procurement policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency, transparency, and control.

Skills & Experience Required

    • Proven experience as a Procurement Officer, Purchasing Manager, or a similar role, preferably within a fintech, financial services, or technology-driven organisation.
    • Demonstrable experience in negotiating complex commercial and contractual terms, particularly for software, SaaS, and technology services.
    • A strong understanding of supplier due diligence processes and the importance of robust risk management in a regulated environment.
    • Familiarity with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including data protection (GDPR), financial crime prevention (AML/KYC), and operational resilience frameworks.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
    • A proactive and results-oriented approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field is preferred. Professional qualifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) would be a significant advantage.

    • This is an exciting opportunity for a talented procurement professional to make a significant impact in a rapidly growing fintech company at the forefront of financial innovation.
