phia is hiring a Senior Systems Administrator to lead special projects or investigations into specific technology or solution issues and to shepherd research and piloting of new technologies. You will serve as a point of contact for engineering efforts and be responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the customer’s private enclave while maintaining compliance with the enterprise-wide architecture policies and guidelines. This hybrid position will require weekly in-person reporting to a location in Arlington, VA. Ideal candidates will need to reside within a commutable distance to the customer.


 

What You'll Do

    • Maintain web environment by identifying system requirements, installing upgrades, and monitoring system performance.
    • Establish system specifications by analyzing access, information, and security requirements and designing system infrastructure.
    • Establish the system by planning and executing the selection, installation, and configuration, testing of server hardware, software, and operating and system management systems, and defining system and operational policies and procedures.
    • Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing and escalating application problems to vendor.
    • Secure system by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; and maintaining documentation.
    • Upgrade the system by conferring with vendors and services and developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.
    • Accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
    • Support systems architects and developers, as needed, to provide oversight in developing design solutions.
    • Participate in meetings/conferences/workshops with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design applications and obtain information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.

    • Design and develop complex cybersecurity or cybersecurity-enabled products.
    • Develop architectures or system components consistent with technical specifications.
    • Oversee and make recommendations regarding configuration management.
    • Apply current IT security principles, concepts, practices, management, and technology to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and the availability of major complex systems, networks, and data.
    • Serve as a technical authority/subject matter expert by advising customers and keeping them informed on new and emerging technological threats.

Education + Experience Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
    • 6 years of system administration experience, or
    • Master’s degree with four (4) years of system administration experience
    • At least 14 years of system administration experience is required with no degree
    • Experience one or more: Windows, Solaris, AIX, Red Hat, IRIX, Linux, or UNIX.
    • Experience with trouble tickets or another tracking system.
    • Experience with one or more: networking protocols and applications (e.g., DNS, TCP/IP stack, sockets, console, license, NFS, SAMBA, back-up, SAN, and mail servers).

Certifications Required (one or more)

    • CompTIA A+ CE , Network+ CE , Security+ 

Security Clearance

    • U.S. Citizenship
    • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance required
    • DHS EOD suitability is required before starting
