phia is seeking a Linux Administrator with cloud experience to support a Federal customer. This hybrid position will require weekly in-person reporting to a location in Arlington, VA. Ideal candidates will need to reside within a commutable distance to the customer.


 

What You'll Do

    • System Administration: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the customer’s lab environments including installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat).
    • Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize system resources to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency. Implement proactive measures to identify and address potential bottlenecks or performance degradation.
    • Security Management: Implement and maintain security measures to protect systems from vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and malware threats.
    • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for Linux systems.
    • Patch Management: Manage the patching process for Linux servers, including scheduling, testing, and deploying software updates and security patches promptly. Ensure compliance with patch management policies and procedures.
    • Automation and Scripting: Develop automation scripts and tools using shell scripting (e.g., Bash), Python, or other scripting languages to streamline system administration tasks, automate repetitive processes, and improve operational efficiency.
    •  Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including key stakeholders to support project initiatives and resolve technical issues.
    • Documentation: Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge-sharing and training purposes.
    • Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to internal users and teams regarding Linux-related issues.
    • Diagnose problems and implement solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions. 
    • Advise customers and keep them informed on new and emerging technological threats.

Education + Experience Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Cyber Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
    • 6+ years of directly relevant experience as a Linux System Administrator.
    • Proficiency in managing and maintaining Linux servers (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
    • Strong understanding of Linux file systems, permissions, and security.
    • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, and Lambda.
    • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, etc.).
    • Experience with network troubleshooting and security (firewalls, security groups, NACLs).

Security Clearance

    • U.S. Citizenship
    • Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability and obtain a TS/SCI clearance

Desired

    • Experience with Terraform
    • Experience with shell scripting (Bash, Python, etc.) for automation and task management.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge of U.S. Government IA policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and objectives.
    • Information Security and IT certifications: Splunk, AWS, Cisco, Red Hat, etc.
