We are seeking candidates for the role of Data Scientist to form part of Predict X’s London Office. As a member of this team, you will have a major impact on shaping our data science platform and responsibility for developing novel machine learning solutions. The successful candidate will have both a strong understanding of data science fundamentals and the creativity to apply this to a diverse range of problems.

You will work with development teams in London and Madrid to move these tools to production for use by Predict X’s internal analysts or by external clients directly. Close communication among teams is essential to hone specifications and deliver products on a deadline. Part of the role also involves knowledge sharing with and training of the end user.

Key Responsibilities

    • Develop new machine learning products to expand Predict X’s data science capabilities
    • Work with clients to produce detailed product specifications, responding proactively to client needs
    • Find creative ways to generate value from existing data
    • Conduct research into new technologies, algorithms and techniques
    • Lead the development of a product from prototype through to production
    • Coordinate with other members of the Predict X development team worldwide
    • Training junior members and the wider company in Data Science and its capabilities

Required Skills and Experience

    • You have a quantitative background with a minimum 2:1 degree (BSc or MSc in Maths, Physics, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science)
    • You have 2+ years relevant industry experience
    • You have strong technical skills and be proficient at performing data analysis in any kind of programmatic analysis tool
    • You will need to have at least 2 years experience using Python and SQL
    • You are proficient in statistical modelling and machine learning techniques and can explain them to a non-technical audience
    • You are interested in how businesses operate and how data science is used to improve decision making
    • You are self-motivated and prefer to learn by doing, failing and trying again
    • You are a clear thinker who is comfortable explaining their thinking, discussing different approaches to a problem, and working collaboratively and creatively to identify new solutions
    • You are a good communicator who is able to work directly with business analysts, data scientists, engineers, product managers, marketers, and designers–being able to communicate with clarity and precision is of critical importance to this role
    • You have a can-do attitude to learning new skills and new tools in the data science landscape
    • You have a mature attitude to documentation, security and process–all of which are important and inform everything we doYou are a self starter with the ability to work autonomously in an instructed environment

Desired Skills / Qualifications

    • PhD in a numerical discipline where machine learning and/or statistical analysis was a core part of your research methodology
    • Python data stack (pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, Jupyter Notebook/Lab)
    • Data visualisation tools (matplotlib, seaborn, plotly)
    • Delivering technical presentations to a non-technical audience
    • Handling large datasets both for modelling and EDA purposes
    • Working cross-functionally with different teams
    • Coding best practices including unit tests and continuous integration
    • Cloud Platform environments such as GCP, AWS and Azure

You will learn to:
