We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate to join the Research and Development team. This role will perform under the direction of senior lab personnel and must be comfortable assisting with and conducting laboratory experiments on research projects within well-defined guidelines. A successful Senior RA will keep abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques and developments within our area of research. This role will also be responsible for evaluating the results of our process and summarizing data collected.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform moderately complex experiments under guidance of a scientist with increasing independence.
- Record data and analyze results using basic statistics.
- Maintain an up-to-date laboratory notebook and adhere to good documentation practices.
- Generate, analyze, interpret, organize, and present experimental data in a group meeting or to other departments.
- Help to prepare external facing presentations and written articles for publication.
- Execute protocols and troubleshoot when needed.
- Assist in technical writing for generating product User Guides or other customer facing documents.
- Manage assigned daily workload and seek advice when appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the R&D team.
- Prepare laboratory reagents, chemicals, instruments, and maintain equipment.
- Assist with general laboratory duties including lab equipment maintenance, ordering and receiving of laboratory supplies.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience Requirements
- B.S. or M.S in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field
- 2-5 years of wet lab experience, highly prefer candidates with clinical laboratory testing experience
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong molecular biology skills are required: PCR, qPCR, DNA/RNA purification
- Hands-on experience in preparing NGS libraries, running next-generation-sequencing instruments and processing NGS data is a plus.
- Good documentation, project tracking and recordkeeping practices.
- Ability to think critically when designing experiments or analyzing data.
- Ability to present data or complex scientific concepts clearly.
- Self-motivated to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient computer skills
- Excellent time management and ability to assist with multiple projects when needed.
Working Conditions
- This position is conducted in a standard lab environment. Must be able to perform work while sitting or standing for long periods of time. Position may at times require repetitive movements. Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 25 lbs.
