About the SQL-Infra Team
The SQL-Infra team at PingCAP is dedicated to building and enhancing TiDB kernel features that underpin the fundamental aspects of the query layer. This includes but is not limited to MySQL compatibility, security, auditing, session management, workload management, and providing robust SQL processing infrastructure for TiDB. Collaborating closely with the storage kernel team, cloud infrastructure team, and ecosystem team, our mission is to develop the database software and global database services that empower our customers to succeed. The overarching vision of the SQL-Infra team is to deliver stable, efficient, and elastic query performance and services for TiDB, catering to diverse user scenarios including OLTP and HTAP, while prioritizing usability, business stability, continuity, and scalability.

Responsibilities

    • Design and implement features for the database kernel and TiDB Cloud.
    • Drive and uphold code quality standards while proactively refactoring kernel models as needed.
    • Perform in-depth problem diagnosis, quick troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
    • Stay abreast of the latest technologies and industry trends through continuous research and learning.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
    • Solid R&D experience in database kernel development or distributed systems.
    • Experience with query processing (DDL/DML, meta, optimization, executor) is highly desirable.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong collaborative mindset.
    • Proficiency in writing production-grade code in languages such as Go, C++, Rust, Java, etc.
    • Hands-on experience with one or more major cloud-based RDBMS platforms on AWS, Azure, GCP, etc., is advantageous.
    • Experience in the architecture design of RDBMS kernels is a plus.
$150,000 - $220,000 a year
The annual anticipated base salary range for U.S. candidates for this role is USD $150K to $220K. The actual individual base pay will depend on various factors such as the complexity and responsibility of the role, work locations, job levels, and relevant experience and skills. This role is also eligible to participate in PingCAP's Bonus and Equity Plan, as well as our Sales Compensation Plan if it is a sales role. In order to comply with local legislation and provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base salary ranges on all US job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Please note that actual salaries may vary and fall outside of this range depending on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, and competencies. Other benefits include health insurance, flexible vacation time, paid holidays, and parental leave. Salaries for candidates outside the U.S. will vary based on local compensation structures.
