ROLE OVERVIEW
SunCentral seeks a highly energized Operations Associate skilled at contributing to complex projects. Success in this role requires a customer-centric attitude, a track record of delivering high-quality work, familiarity with project management best practices, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and an entrepreneurial learning style.
In this role, you will execute business operations and serve customer needs, while identifying
opportunities to increase efficiency and accuracy in our work. You will contribute to multifunctional project teams, executing community solar subscriptions for both Pivot Energy and our clients. This role requires knowledge of community solar, adhering to standard operating procedures, responding to customer inquiries, producing memos and status reports, and other assignments as assigned by your manager.
The ideal candidate should be process-oriented and prepared to support data-driven department growth. They will have some experience working on complex projects, which highlights the ability to balance competing priorities and successfully communicate across a broader team. Additionally, this individual should possess strong verbal communication skills and be able to liaise with both internal and external audiences effectively.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Customer Support & Operations
- Respond to customer requests by phone, email, chat, and text, providing timely and accurate feedback
- Manage subscriber onboarding in a timely manner, ensuring that subscribers successfully complete steps compliant with their subscription agreements
- Process outbound communications with customers regarding community solar subscriptions, including project timelines, subscription payments, and savings, and enrollment
- Track customer support operations to client-specific key performance metrics relating to response rate and handle time
- Maintain customer service notes and log issues, bugs, and feature requests in the company CRM system
- Support robust reporting on customer service cases to drive department efficiency
- Identify opportunities to improve SunCentral’s customer support processes and automated workflows
- Client Work Delivery
- Execute tasks for new client and project onboarding
- Support documentation of new client portfolio details and requirements
- Contribute to proactive communications between SunCentral and Client Solutions teams, including project timelines, product details, strategy, and account management
- Support the execution of customer acquisition campaigns by collaborating with sales operations, supporting subscriber engagement, and enrollment
- Use the client implementation materials, software documentation, and guides to assist with implementing new Client scopes of work
- Construct periodic accounting reports for existing clients
- Execute subscriber invoicing using utility-provided data and the SunCentral portal
- Own specific markets and products, including subscriber allocation and rebalancing efforts
- Run monthly aging reports, subscriber collections efforts, and analyze payment data – ensuring project revenue and minimizing subscriber risk
- Support the Manager of SunCentral Operations with utility data management, tracking, and research, in support of customer service
- Other Duties/Areas of Involvement
- Support the subscriber sales and acquisitions team by maintaining community solar subscription agreements and disclosures, compliant with program and market rules
- Serve as the customer advocate internally, communicating themes and opportunities to improve our service-oriented culture
- Other special projects and/or duties as assigned
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in business, project management, operations, customer service, or sales operations
- Familiarity with the demand response or community solar industry, or at a minimum, the broader solar industry key terms and market dynamics
- Experience with HubSpot or CRM software and best practices
- Excellent telephone and written communication skills
- Advanced in MS Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and Data Tables
- Experience with CRM software and best practices
PREFERRED COMPETENCIES
- Interest in sustainability, solar, or other renewable energy sectors
- Data Analysis: Proficient in analyzing energy production and solar crediting data
- Stakeholder Engagement and Customer Service: Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively engage with community solar subscribers as well as utility partners
$70,000 - $85,000 a year
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The estimated base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000, along with eligibility for the company’s substantial bonus plan, with a target bonus of 30% of annual salary (prorated in the first year based on start date). Compensation will be based on factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, certifications, skills, and experience.
