Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

Boston, MA
Engineering – Engineering Team
Full-Time
Play an integral role in conceptualizing and delivering the next generation of PlacePass’s e-commerce platform for travelers around the world.

Who You Are:
You are someone looking for an opportunity, not a job! You are highly self-motivated, proactive, and excited to tackle new challenges every day. You have a true passion for building. You are excited by the opportunity to wear many hats and are prepared to drink from a firehose, yet still be thirsty after! You thrive in environments where you are challenged to creatively navigate your way through unchartered territory, and you appreciate not being micromanaged, but understand how to effectively leverage the resources around you. Lastly, you are a true team player - you love to share your knowledge with others, not lord it over them!

There is much work to be done here, so we are not interested in candidates who prefer taking a back-seat and hiding in the cracks. Let’s talk if you are ready to overflow your plate, and still be hungry for seconds!

What You’ll Do:
Join our small, yet highly skilled and motivated engineering team to build a world-class e-commerce platform. As a senior member of the team, you’ll be focused on both frontend and backend architecture, as well as leading small agile pods, while continuing to develop the engineering talent in-house.

You’ll be extremely hands-on in the technology stack, and we will look to you to drive innovation and architect new product features and functionality. You’ll implement design patterns for separation of concerns, code reusability, security, and performance. In doing all of this, it will be important that you understand the trade-offs between performance, scale, and business value, which will often require close collaboration with cross-functional teams. Lastly, you’ll actively engage in agile processes with the teams, while enabling new development techniques or processes to reduce complexity, promote quality, and increase velocity.

Who We Are:
PlacePass is a team of 25+ diverse individuals united by a single vision: to connect people to great experiences, all over the world. Boston-based but globally-minded, we celebrate the power of travel to inform, educate, and empower people.

Over the past two years, we have built the world’s largest online marketplace for in-destination experiences (tours, activities, attractions), the third largest ($150B+) and fastest growing segment of the travel industry. We not only operate PlacePass.com, but also extend our platform to the world's largest travel companies, including Marriott and Hertz. PlacePass is backed by an amazing group of investors and is well-positioned to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in the tour & activity space.

Our platform is micro-service oriented built in Java/Spring-Boot behind a suite of web apps in Rails leveraging modern javascript frameworks like React. Our infrastructure is hosted in AWS natively while leveraging our CI/CD pipeline. Our production release velocity is weekly and accelerating. While our tech stack is modern, we always welcome new ideas. Feel free to check out a more granular breakdown of our tech stack here: https://stackshare.io/placepass.
