The Benefits Team is responsible for managing Plaid’s global benefits programs. Our team ensures that all Plaids have access to competitive, comprehensive, and meaningful benefits that support their health, financial security, and overall well-being. As the leader of the Benefits team, you will set a forward-thinking global benefits strategy that supports employee wellbeing and aligns with Plaid’s business objectives. You will build and manage strong relationships with vendors, negotiate smart contracts, and stay ahead of industry trends to keep our programs competitive and relevant. You’ll guide and mentor a high-performing team, empowering them to grow and deliver an exceptional employee experience. You’ll collaborate closely with People, Legal, and Finance to ensure our benefits strategy supports broader company goals and reflects our values. In this role, you will act as the go-to expert for complex benefits escalations and maintain compliance across all regions. You’ll leverage data and employee feedback to continuously refine our offerings—ensuring they remain equitable, engaging, and impactful.

Requirements:

    • 10+ yrs in the HR/Benefits with at least 5+ years in a leadership role focused on growing and leading Benefits/Total Rewards teams
    • Experience designing and implementing a Benefits strategy (benchmarking, financial planning, vendor selection, implementation, open enrollment)
    • Experience partnering with internal stakeholders (Finance, Legal, HRBP, Systems, People Leadership)
    • Experience driving external relationships (broker, vendor, administrators)
    • Experience with Workday Benefits and Zendesk
    • Strong communicator;  ability to synthesize complex information to deliver our employee population;  ability to bring empathy into employee interactions
    • Preferred experience working with our current brokers (Newfront), partners (Larkin), vendors (Anthem, Kaiser, Guardian, Forma, Progyny, Vanguard)
    • Added bonus for experience leading benefits globally (specifically UK, Netherlands, Canada)

Responsibilities:

    • Strategic Planning: Designing global benefits programs aligned with business objectives and employee needs;  balancing competitive market positioning with spend
    • Program Management: Overseeing vendor relationships and day-to-day Benefits operations
    • Employee Experience: Support employee questions; leverage feedback to inform program design
    • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure global regulatory compliance
    • Partnership:  Fostering relationships with XFNs (Legal, Finance, People) on Benefits programs and partner with external partners (brokers, vendors, administrators)
    • Team Leadership: Building and leading a high performing Benefits team
$160,800 - $273,600 a year
The target base salary for this position ranges from $160,800/year - $273,600/year [In Zone 1]. The target base salary will vary based on the job's location. 

Our geographic zones are as follows:
Zone 1 - New York City and San Francisco Bay Area 
Zone 2 - Los Angeles, Seattle, Washington D.C.
Zone 3 - Austin, Boston, Denver, Houston, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego
Zone 4 - Raleigh-Durham and all other US cities

Additional compensation in the form(s) of equity and/or commission are dependent on the position offered. Plaid provides a comprehensive benefit plan, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k). Pay is based on factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and skillset, and location.
