As part of our continuous growth, we are looking for a Principal Electronics Engineer to join us.

The Role 

A Principal Electronics Engineer is the most experienced technical expert responsible for working with clients to identify solutions for strategic business problems. They are responsible for providing technical leadership, guidance and mentorship to more junior members and are responsible for making business / project related critical decisions as it relates to electronics designs and inputs. Using their deep technical expertise, knowledge of current technology and industry advancements, is accountable for promoting and supporting technical capability improvement within the business.  

The Accountabilities

    • Make major contribution directly to the electronics development of various projects, providing electronics input into design, development planning and team leadership.
    • Leads the planning, specification, design, development, documentation, testing and integration activities on a range of products.
    • Contributes new ideas to projects, communicates effectively across teams and assists in motivating the broad-based team.
    • Lead role in electronic design activities (architecture, schematics, PCB layouts, procurement and testing) broadly across projects as well as detailed design of boards, modules and systems including all documentation activities.
    • Collaborate with other engineers (specifically software and mechanical Engineers) to ensure smooth integration.
    • Contribute to System design activities – requirements definition, system design, architectural, top level design and prototyping or concept evaluation.
    • Support Transfer to Manufacture including assembly procedures, test strategy, jigs and fixtures
    • Communication of activities, schedule tracking and issues/risks to project leader and other team members
    • Manage EMC and safety test planning and execution.
    • Proactively reviews designs, focusing on both technical and commercial aspects.
    • Initiate and maintain client contact where applicable and lay foundations for a successful relationship.
    • Leads, mentors and support other engineers within the resource group.
    • Provide and review estimations for timeline development and resourcing needs.
    • Compliance with PI policies; procedures and international quality standards

The Typical Experiences

    • 10-15 years technical electronic design experience in various regulated industries.
    • Has had responsibility for solving complex technical problems without guidance from others.
    • Experience applying technical expertise to influence internal & external stakeholders, preferably in a consulting business environment
    • Relevant experience in most aspects of the product development cycle, from design through to manufacture.
    • Experience working with international quality standards, including ISO13485, ISO9001, IEC62366, ISO14971.
    • Possibly PhD or Masters in a given technical area but not essential.
