Do you want to own the entire product testing strategy for a company? Not just any company, one of the top Sequoia backed startups! We are building a product that spans all popular platforms (Android, iOS, Web, and Windows) with challenging cross platform interactions that will require your team to build custom tooling in order to test effectively. We are building a product that our customer rely on to accomplish their day job - we must deliver high quality software so that our customers aren't blocked by issues in our software.You will have to work cross functionality and set the testing strategy for all platforms and build a team to deliver on that strategy. This includes:

This is a very hands on position - we expect you be able to do everything your team will be doing. We also expect you to be very experienced, vocal, and opinionated - you will be PlanGrid’s biggest quality advocate and will help implement good practices across the engineering team.You will be reporting to an engineering manager or VP of Engineering. All our engineers can't wait for the QA effort to get off the ground and are ready to help any way necessary.

Testing Strategy:

    • act as a strong advocate for quality in the product development process for software engineering
    • work with QA team, engineers, and engineering managers to understand what are the bottlenecks in the existing release process
    • work with support to understand where the main pain points of users are and where problems arise with new releases (there aren't many)
    • decide how we should split resources between exploratory , automation, and integration testing
    • define goals for QA teams

Testing efforts:

    • improve the overall QA process, by identifying gaps or inefficiencies in workflows and suggesting improvements
    • set standards and educate the team on good test plan design
    • train the team to participate in design reviews to ensure testability of new features, integrate the test team and testing plans early during feature development timeline

Execution:

    • work with the automation architect to deliver an automation pipeline for all engineering teams
    • provide accurate QA status and progress during all project testing phases
    • create automated dashboards to track product quality and regressions
    • reduce our release test burden to <1 day

Team & mentorship:

    • design a career track for current team members (QA Analysts and automation QA engineers)
    • mentor and lead team members to progress in their career
    • hire new team members

Requirements:

    • 7+ years of hands-on testing, in a manual or automated capacity
    • 3+ years of managing a team of at least 4experience testing in agile environment
    • experience testing mobile and web platforms
    • be a strong voice for QA needs
