As Planned’s new Head of Engineering, you’ll help propel us forward, on our road to product-market fit, knowing when to balance the right tech with what’s right for the business and user. You’ll be working alongside a team of 12 engineers and helping them get to the next level, as individuals and as a team. You’ll be the ultimate player-coach, driving forward the strategic direction but able to lead by example. The right candidate will meet the following four criteria.
Technical Expert
You’re an expert in the javascript/typescript ecosystem - we use react.js on the front-end and node.js on the backend, although you keep up to date with technology trends to ensure the business is headed in the right direction. You will share your expertise with the team, but are not above jumping in to help whenever needed (tight deadlines on new feature launches, bug fixes). You keep up to date with current technological trends to ensure we’re ahead of our competitors.
People Leader
You have a knack for recognizing, attractive and motivating strong technical talent - your network has a pool of individuals who would follow you. You have experience keeping engineers motivated and inspired to do their best work, all while helping them grow into the career paths they want. You’ll help build a strong engineering culture and be their voice for the company.
Product-Obsessed / Business-Minded
Strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. You’re passionate about creating a great user-experience but know how to balance that with the needs of the business. You know what needs to be done technically & what corners need to be cut, in order to keep moving fast. You’ll be taking part in leadership and board meetings and will be trusted to be part of company-wide business decisions.
