Pay Rate: $20 per hour plus tips. As a barista you will typically earn $22/hour and as a bartender, $23-24/hour. This is a contract role with no benefits.
Reports to: Cafe Manager on-site
Work Hours: Ideally you'd be able to sub Monday-Friday, from 7:30am-3:30pm as a barista. If you are also able to work 3:30-7:30pm as a bartender when needed, that would be great. You would be guaranteed at least one shift per week up to 40 hours per month.

Your mission is to deliver a personalized, elevated bar and cafe experience that leaves a lasting impression on every tenant and guest of Perks Cafe. You’ll be the face of our upscale cafe located inside the One South corporate office building, ensuring the bar is not just clean and organized, but impeccably presented and fully stocked at all times. Your attention to detail, creativity, and thoughtful recommendations will help maintain a warm, welcoming space where service feels effortless and exceptional.

Whether crafting a new signature drink or recommending the perfect afternoon pick-me-up, you didn’t just serve beverages, you created moments. More than anything, you made Perks Cafe feel like the heart of the building and supported One South in being the most sought-after office building in downtown Charlotte.
What You’re Responsible For:
- Operational Coverage: Support the operations of Perks Cafe, located in the One South office building in Uptown, on an on-call basis for planned and unplanned time off. You will be contacted by your manager as soon as we know we need your support for one of two shifts between 7:30am-7:30pm, Monday-Friday. You'll need to respond within 12 hours.
- Exceptional Customer Service: Stay informed on all menu items, specials, and promotions to deliver knowledgeable and engaging service. Anticipate the needs of your guests, event attendees, and room bookings while upholding Perks Cafe’s high standards for etiquette and customer care. Provide seamless support to your back-of-house teammates through helping with food preparation, order running, and maintaining a clean and organized environment, especially during peak lunch and evening service.
- Beverage Quality + Consistency: Expertly measure, portion, and prepare high-quality ingredients—from mixers and syrups to garnishes—ensuring consistency and freshness in every drink you serve. Follow and execute all craft coffee, non-alcoholic, and cocktail recipes with precision and care. Deliver each beverage with consistency, creativity, and a commitment to excellence that reflects the elevated Perks Cafe experience.
- Impeccable Cleanliness: Consistently follow all Standard Operating Procedures, including food safety protocols and NC ABC/ALE compliance, to ensure a safe and professional environment. Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of all workspaces and public areas, taking full ownership of daily closing tasks to guarantee a seamless “close to open” transition for your teammates. Support your café manager in achieving a health inspection score of 96% or higher by upholding the highest standards in cleanliness, organization, and compliance.
- Inventory Management: Ensure all stock is appropriately labeled, dated, sealed, and rotated first in, first out (FIFO) to maintain ingredient quality and accessibility. Accurately measure and portion ingredients to reduce waste and support consistent product delivery. Proactively communicate any inventory concerns or potential waste issues to your manager to enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Positive Team Collaboration: Read slack updates pertaining to your role before you arrive at your shift. Support a strong team culture by actively assisting your coworkers and building positive, collaborative relationships.
Who You Are - Baseline Expectations:
- For barista - must be 18 years or older and have previous barista experience.
- For bartender - must be at least 21 years or older and must have previous bartending experience. You must also acquire a responsible Alcohol Seller/Server Training Certification within 30 days of hire
- Basic expediting experience from a kitchen is preferred. If you are working the morning shift, you'll definitely need to do some of this.
- POS experience is required and ideally you know Toast.
- Must be able to repetitively crouch, reach overhead, stand for extended periods, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
