THE ROLE

Do you believe that organizational success is determined at the middle-management level? Can you navigate difficult conversations with ease? Are you passionate about coaching our coaches?

PlayOn! Sports is looking for a VP, People Operations to help us shepherd the organization during our growth phase. Our ideal candidate combines the candor and practicality of a leadership coach with the approachability and empathy of a social worker.

Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include:

Engagement and Retention:
• Develop and implement deliberate and comprehensive strategies to maintain high levels of overall engagement and ensure measurable progress in areas identified for improvement.
• Design and execute bespoke engagement strategies tailored to top performers, influential leaders, and high-potential employees.

Leadership Coaching:
• Work closely with business leaders to implement team-specific actions to achieve quarterly progress on performance and engagement metrics.
• Provide a sounding board and individualized coaching for leaders to navigate challenging people situations.

Culture & Ethics:
• Act as a steward of our culture and employee value proposition, ensuring it is effectively communicated and realized across the organization.
• Ensure adherence to ethical, legal, and organizational guidelines related to people operations.

KPIs:
• Overall employee engagement
• Retention of core/top performers and attrition of bottom performers
• Overall Leadership Effectiveness score
 

THE PERSON

• HR Knowledge: Deep expertise and current knowledge of employee engagement strategies, benefit administration, and HR compliance.
• Strong Coaching Skills: Demonstrated ability to coach direct reports and leaders at all levels in accomplishing desired talent outcomes.
• Strategy Development & Deployment: Proven track record of driving measurable outcomes related to employee engagement and organizational success.
• Influential Leadership: Ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization and drive consensus and buy-in.
• Hands-On Approach: Strong sense of ownership and accountability for initiatives with a willingness to roll up your sleeves.
• Resilience and Adaptability: Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment (we’re in the growth phase)
