At PlayOn, we’re building the trusted financial backbone that powers payments, settlements, reporting, and compliance for our GoFan and NFHS products. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our fintech team — a critical group that ensures every transaction is secure, every payout is reliable, and every compliance standard is met. If you’re passionate about building scalable financial systems, mentoring engineers, and setting the technical direction of a mission-critical platform, this is the role for you.

As our Fintech Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a team of senior and mid-level engineers to evolve and maintain our financial infrastructure. You’ll be responsible for payments, refunds, fraud detection, reporting pipelines, and settlements. You’ll also guide product teams on best practices for integrating Stripe and other payment solutions, ensuring that our financial lifecycle is robust, compliant, and future-ready. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives at the intersection of technology, compliance, and business impact.

The ideal candidate is both a strong technical leader and a collaborative communicator. You have a track record of preparing systems for PCI and SOC audits, leading migrations to cloud-native infrastructure, and championing compliance as a first-class priority. You know how to balance delivery with governance, mentor engineers with empathy, and partner with finance, product, and compliance stakeholders to deliver lasting results.

The Outcomes You’ll Deliver

· A secure and compliant fintech platform that meets PCI and SOC requirements and sets the company standard for audit readiness.
· A robust, scalable financial data infrastructure that supports timely reporting, automated payouts, and accurate settlements.
· A high-performing engineering team that delivers predictably, owns their systems, and partners effectively with product, finance, and compliance teams.

In this role, you can expect to

    • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 5-7 senior, mid-level or contract engineers, fostering technical excellence and ownership.
    • Oversee the architecture, delivery, and operations of PlayOn!’s financial infrastructure, including payments, settlements, refunds, reporting, and fraud detection.
    • Partner with finance, compliance, and product teams to define requirements, ensure alignment, and deliver business-critical financial capabilities.
    • Drive compliance and security as core practices, preparing for PCI and SOC audits and embedding audit readiness into daily operations.
    • Consult with product development teams on Stripe integrations, payment flows, and financial best practices.
    • Champion engineering best practices around infrastructure-as-code, observability, testing, and incident response.
    • Recruit, retain, and inspire top engineering talent while promoting a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative culture.

To thrive in this role, you have

    • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in an engineering management or leadership role.
    • Proven experience leading compliance-heavy engineering teams and preparing systems for PCI and SOC audits.
    • Strong technical background in AWS cloud services and distributed systems; hands-on familiarity with infrastructure-as-code.
    • Deep understanding of the financial lifecycle, including payments, settlements, reconciliation, fraud detection, and reporting.
    • Experience with Stripe or similar payment platforms, and ability to consult teams on integration best practices.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, able to partner across finance, product, compliance, and engineering stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, manage with empathy, and foster a high-performing, collaborative culture.
    • Experience with data platforms such as Snowflake, Estuary, Tinybird, or similar technologies (preferred).
    • A strong sense of ownership, accountability, and a passion for delivering secure, reliable, and compliant financial systems.

How You Play

    • Ownership over Participation- You take responsibility for achieving holistic outcomes, prioritize key objectives, and adapt quickly when situations require a different approach. You follow through even against the toughest challenges.

    • Team over Stars- You are a bridge builder, establishing processes and relationships with teams outside your own. You work to rally around common goals, find win-win solutions, compromise when necessary, and help others succeed.

    • Growth over Comfort- You are driven by a desire to grow and actively seek opportunities to expand your comfort zone, skills, and confidence. You embrace new challenges with curiosity, accepting discomfort and failure as opportunities to learn.

    • Fairness over Popularity- You approach decisions with a scientist’s mindset, challenging your assumptions and remaining objective. You consider long-term impact rather than relying on short-term gains, proactively seek others’ perspectives, and manage emotions in decision-making.
