The People Operations Generalist plays a tiny role in providing the People Team operational support. This role serves as the go-to role for all things People, supporting the full employee lifecycle—from onboarding and compliance to performance and engagement, while helping scale systems and practices that support a distributed, people-first culture. This role plays a key role in shaping our organizational foundations, supporting leaders, and driving initiatives that foster inclusion, clarity, and connection. 

Organization Responsibilities

    • People Team Operations: Support the People Team with the end-to-end employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, benefits coordination, safety, and compliance across multiple U.S. states. 
    • HRIS and Record Management: Own and optimize Paylocity (or similar HRIS), ensuring data integrity, automation, and reporting efficiency. Assist in preparing People Team-related reports, presentations, and documents for management, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. Maintain and update employee records, ensuring all information is accurate, confidential, and compliant with company policies and regulations.  
    • Compliance & Policies: Maintain up-to-date company policies and ensure compliance with labor laws and benefit regulations across a remote-first, multi-state team. 
    • Reporting and Records Management: Maintain and update employee records, ensuring all information is accurate, confidential, and compliant with company policies and regulations.  
    • Performance & Development: Collaborate with leadership on performance cycles, leveling frameworks, and career pathing initiatives. Support the People Team in organizing training sessions, workshops, and company events. 
    • Hiring Support: Partner with the Talent Acquisition team on job descriptions, interview scheduling, offer preparation and analysis, offer letters, and ensuring a seamless candidate experience. 
    • Culture & Engagement: Support and lead initiatives that promote employee engagement, connection, and inclusion across time zones and business units. 
    • Strategic People Partner: Serve as a trusted resource to leaders and employees, offering guidance and insight on people practices and programs and escalating complex issues to the People Team Director as needed. 
    • Administrative Support: Manage the daily operations of the People Team office, including handling all incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence. Provide administrative support through accurate data entry and assist with People Team initiatives and special projects as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
    • Five (5) years of progressive HR/People Ops experience, ideally in a project and construction or engineering professional services environment
    • Proven success working independently or as a “team of one.”
    • Strong working knowledge of Paylocity or similar HRIS platforms
    • Familiarity with career frameworks, performance management, and organizational development
    • Experience supporting a distributed workforce across multiple U.S. states
    • Deep understanding of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices
    • Clear and empathetic communicator with strong attention to detail
    • A passion for building inclusive, people-centric workplaces
    • Experience with employee benefits administration or payroll support (preferred)
    • Previous HR experience with a federal contractor (preferred)

    • May need to lift and carry up to 15 pounds and/or position the body to reach items on the floor/below knee level or overhead.
