What you’ll do:
- Lead and mentor engineers across core data and AI teams, fostering a collaborative, inclusive culture with clear guidance and resources.
- Guide architectural and technical decisions, ensuring best practices in development, testing, and deployment while aligning platform strategy with business objectives.
- Oversee the design, development, and delivery of web applications using technologies like Python, Django, JavaScript/TypeScript, Vue.js, Postgres, and AWS.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, emphasizing quality and maintainability through comprehensive tests, documentation, and automation.
- Collaborate on system design for AI/ML services, working with data scientists to build scalable, data-driven products, drive AI-powered feature development, optimize data pipelines, and advance prompting strategies across LLMs.
- Lead data pipeline creation and optimization with data warehouses like Redshift and Snowflake to support AI services.
- Take ownership of team growth, contributing to interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
- Allocate roughly 60% of the role to people management and 40% to hands-on coding and technical problem-solving.
- Establish development best practices, foster continuous improvement, prioritize projects for timely delivery, and ensure technical excellence through code reviews and tool implementation.
- Encourage innovation by nurturing ideas for advanced tech solutions that enhance the company’s competitive edge.
- [Required] Demonstrate experience with data pipelines and data warehouses, and guide their optimization.
- [Required] Show hands-on experience in AI/ML systems, including model design and deployment for actionable insights.
What you have:
- Proven track record of success in large enterprise SAAS Software, distributed systems, scalability, data pipelines and continuous development
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 6-10 years’ experience OR Master’s degree and 5-7 years’ experience
- 2+ years leading technical teams
- Senior level skill-set with core programming languages (Python, Java, C#, C/C++, etc.)
- Experience working with distributed systems, inter-service communication protocols, and APIs (e.g. REST, NSQ, etc.)
- Experience working with relational databases and SQL
Extras you bring to the table:
- Deploying into a public cloud service (AWS, GCP, etc.)
- Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and building scalable/redundant services
- Experience with service monitoring, metrics, alerting, log aggregation, and tracing
- Experience with functional/acceptance testing
