The Practice Line Leader (PLL), OCFO at Portage Point represents a unique opportunity for a highly successful and motivated executive to assume a wide set of responsibilities and make a significant impact in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The PLL, OCFO is a new role mandated with building on platform capabilities and momentum to establish a dedicated OCFO practice. The ideal candidate will originate and lead engagements while bolstering Portage Point playbooks for providing end-to-end operational and technical accounting as well as strategic finance. The PLL, OCFO should be prepared to drive business across industries and situations working directly with clients and engagement teams to develop comprehensive solutions throughout the business lifecycle.

Since inception, Portage Point has executed countless operational and technical accounting, strategic finance and organizational effectiveness engagements with a deep client partnership approach to develop and enhance OCFO core competencies. This integrated approach to client delivery ensures that business performance transparency and stakeholder reporting (financial statements, dashboards, KPIs, etc.) reflects the underlying operational paradigm. The ingrained Portage Point execution bias drives efficient tactical execution, while broad perspective and capability enables strategic thought leadership, roadmapping and reporting. With the addition of the PLL, OCFO these offerings will be marketed as a core life cycle solution to middle market clients.

Responsibilities

    • Originate, lead, manage and deliver OCFO engagements that involve accounting and financial reporting, treasury and cash flow management, financial planning and analysis support, management and stakeholder reporting, KPI / BI development and reporting, value creation analytics, embedded data analytics, cost optimization and cash conversion enhancement
    • Originate at least seven million dollars in annual revenue leveraging the Portage Point platform and personal relationships to drive new client growth and expand active client share
    • Combine accounting and finance capabilities into a lifecycle solution facilitating a unique ability to deliver rear-view and windshield insights and analysis to middle market clients
    • Lead financial functions to create and implement new assets, artifacts and governance
    • Serve in interim leadership roles (as applicable)
    • Drive action plans to completion through project management, direct execution, execution advisory and / or interim management,
    • Work with the Portage Point team (Associates to Managing Directors) to lead execution of all deliverable workflows within scope, on time and within budget, often across multiple engagements
    • Lead engagement origination including setting meetings, uncovering opportunities, developing proposals and pitching to senior executives, private equity firms, lenders and other related stakeholders
    • Lead practice development initiatives including OCFO P&L management, playbook and training development, talent acquisition, proprietary perspective and thought leadership
    • Provide professional development coaching to junior team members
    • Contribute to creating a high-performing and inclusive culture

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program
    • Located or willing to relocate to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York or Philadelphia
    • Invested in a team-based culture motivated to collaborate in office four days per week with work at client sites as needed
    • 12 plus years blue chip advisory experience across several of the following areas: Office of the OCFO, TRS, TAS, TES, PI and / or IB
    • Proven success originating at least seven million dollars annually
    • Proven success building rapport with and influencing private equity and private credit firms, senior executives, middle managers and line workers, delivering high-value work that exceeds client expectations
    • Experience advising clients and making decisions that demonstrate expertise, synthesizing the core drivers of both the clients’ business, situational analyses and the underlying complexity of the situation to maximize value
    • Personal network and relationships that yield new OCFO opportunities and engagements as well as ability to cross-sell complementary service offerings and expand network
    • Demonstrated track record of achieving exceptional results in establishing and cultivating an OCFO or similar practice within a recognized professional services firm
    • Ability to successfully work in a small, collaborative team environment
    • Proven track-record of success in high pressure, time-constrained environments
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong e-mail etiquette
    • Top-tier organizational skills and attention to detail

$900,000 - $1,700,000 a year
The City of New York and the State of California require Portage Point to provide compensation information for this role. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
