The IB team advises owners, entrepreneurs and investors on M&A, debt and equity capital transactions, recapitalizations, restructurings, §363 sales, acquisition and Debtor-in-Possession (DIP) financings and liability management. The Director, IB // M&A role at Portage Point Partners offers an ideal opportunity for candidates to work closely with the Managing Director & Head of Industrials to manage the day-to-day execution of transactions and business development initiatives. Portage Point’s small transaction team structure creates a strong platform for Directors to assume high levels of responsibility and client exposure on transformative transactions in the middle market. As a Director, IB // M&A you will work on a variety of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, private placements of debt and equity securities and other financial advisory services. The role represents a unique opportunity for a highly capable professional to make substantial contributions to overall firm growth in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. 

Responsibilities

    • Work with the Portage Point team (Associates to Managing Directors) to execute all deliverables necessary to consummate transactions for our middle-market clients
    • Manage and execute live transactions, assisting with new business development and client relationships, with a particular focus on working closely with Associates and Vice Presidents on day-to-day team deliverables
    • Oversee financial and valuation analysis, resolving complex financial and accounting issues, performing industry and competitive analysis and preparing client presentation materials
    • Create client marketing materials (Teasers, Confidential Information Presentations, Management Presentations, etc.) to be distributed to prospective investors
    • Identify and contact targeted investors interested in a potential transaction and managing investor proposal solicitation
    • Assist in the structuring and negotiation of transactions
    • Oversee and manage client and investor due diligence
    • Aid with the management of, and compliance with, all administrative standard operating procedures associated with a transaction  
    • Provide professional development coaching to junior team members
    • Share and manage best practices as well as lead internal trainings where required
    • Lead business development efforts while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients
    • Support talent acquisition and firm development efforts
    • Contribute to creating a high-performing and inclusive culture

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program
    • Located or willing to relocate to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York or Philadelphia
    • Invested in a team-based culture that involves in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed
    • 10 plus years of work experience in investment banking and / or a relevant field or MBA degree with at least six years of investment banking experience
    • 4 plus years of experience with industrials deals
    • Strong financial modeling skills and an excellent grasp of corporate finance and financial valuations including DCF, LBO, merger modeling, trading and transaction comparables
    • Experience with due-diligence and transaction execution processes
    • Experience preparing and maintaining industry / company presentations and benchmarking materials and other related process documents
    • Commitment to develop personal network and relationships and uncover and sell new opportunities and engagements
    • Experience supervising other professionals and acting in a manner that serves to motivate, inspire and develop
    • Series 79 and 63 FINRA licenses or ability to obtain within 120 days of employment
    • Ability to successfully work in a small, collaborative team environment
    • High degree of maturity with a proven ability to interact with senior executives, private equity firms, lenders, lawyers, middle managers and line workers
    • Effectively communicates analysis through Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint including high-quality messaging, structure and formatting
    • Eagerness to be responsive at all times
    • Proven track-record of success in high pressure, time-constrained environments
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including strong e-mail etiquette
    • Top-tier organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Self-starter and entrepreneurial spirit
$600,000 - $800,000 a year
The City of New York and the State of California require Portage Point to provide compensation information for this role. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
