Portage Point’s Performance Improvement (“PI”) practice supports private equity, direct lenders and corporate clients – primarily in the middle market – with insights, action planning and implementation to improve business efficiency and / or effectiveness. Our work supports clients across the business life cycle including new deal value creation, performance enhancement, performance improvement, value recovery and transformation. We get hired time and time again for our speed to insight, tactical action plans and boots-on-the-ground approach. Our PI practice works across industries and functions, providing end-to-end performance improvement services including: office of CFO, post-merger integration, commercial and operational excellence, organizational effectiveness, working capital optimization and interim management.

The Director role at Portage Point is a client delivery leadership and business development position that represents a unique opportunity for highly capable professionals with a proven track record and relevant network. Directors will make substantial contributions to overall firm growth and should be prepared to lead teams through challenging and complex engagements.

Service Delivery Responsibilities

    • Working directly with senior personnel at Portage Point and our clients to develop comprehensive solutions to complex operational and financial challenges across the business lifecycle
    • Working with the Portage Point team of Associates to Managing Directors to lead execution of all deliverable workflows within scope, on time and within budget including (1) using a hypothesis-based approach to quickly close knowledge gaps, source key data and provide analysis, (2) delivering value creation plans with quantum and speed of opportunity capture, (3) creating prioritized tactial action plans focused on what needs to be done by whom and whenn, (4) supporting business functions to create and implement new assets, artifacts and governance, (5) leading completion of client deliverables and presentations with high-degree of clarity, rigor and attention to detail and (6) driving action plans to completion through interim management, project management, direct execution or execution advisory

Business Development Responsibilities

    • Leveraging network and relationships to yield an active referral base of high-quality opportunities
    • Contributing to the origination and selling of projects including experience pitching to or partnering with senior executives, private equity firms, lenders, lawyers and other related buyers

Firm Development Responsibilities

    • Supporting development of service-line playbooks, proprietary perspective and thought leadership
    • Providing professional development coaching to junior team members
    • Sharing and manage best practices as well as lead internal trainings where required
    • Supporting recruiting efforts
    • Contributing to creating a high-performing and inclusive culture

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program
    • Located or willing to self relocate to Dallas, Chicago, New York, or Los Angeles 
    • At least seven years of advisory experience across several of the following areas (1) Financial Assessment & Office of the CFO, (2) Sales Effectiveness, (3) Acquisition & Merger Integration, (4) Organizational Realignment & Business Process Optimization, (5) Working Capital Opitmization, (6) Cost Out, (7) Interim Management
    • High degree of maturity with a proven ability to build rapport with and influence senior executives, middle managers, line workers, private equity firms, lenders and lawyers and deliver high-value work that exceeds client expectations
    • Extensive experience managing other professionals and acting in a manner that serves to motivate, develop and bring out the best in others. Provides clear direction, coaching and mentoring to team members
    • Personal network and relationships that yield new opportunities and engagements across transformation, restructuring and interim management
    • Proven ability to cross-sell complementary service offerings and expand network
    • Open to frequent travel and work at client sites
    • Applicable professional certification(s) are preferred

Compensation

    • Highly competitive compensation with quarterly bonus payments, premium health insurance and 401(k) programs
    • The City of New York and the State of California require Portage Point to provide compensation information for this role. The total compensation range, including base and bonus, for the Director role is $350,000-$450,000. The total compensation range, including base and bonus, for the Senior Director role is $450,000-$550,000. These ranges represent the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training, and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances
