The IB team advises on Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), capital raises, restructurings and special situations. Through delivering bespoke solutions to every transaction, the IB team has direct exposure to firm leadership and clients.
The Managing Director, Restructuring Banker role offers an opportunity for the ideal candidate to leverage the firm’s rapidly expanding platform and work alongside the Head of Investment Banking to sell and deliver traditional investment banking services (i.e. sell and buy-side, capital markets, etc) involving middle market companies experiencing growth, transformation, transition, stress and / or distress, including liability management transactions, financings, M&A and restructuring solutions, whether implemented out-of-court or through bankruptcy. The role is a business development and client delivery leadership position that represents a unique opportunity for a highly capable professional with a proven track record and relevant network to make substantial contributions to overall firm growth. This is a key role in building the investment banking platform and enabling middle market clients to achieve their strategic priorities. Ultimately, the Managing Director, Restructuring Banker will focus on developing new and existing client relationships, leading challenging and complex engagements within a collaborative team environment as well as ensuring all aspects of engagements are delivered with the highest quality standards and impact.
Responsibilities
- Selling engagements across a network of senior executives, private equity firms, entrepreneurs, lenders and lawyers
- Driving business opportunities within own capabilities and cross-selling complementary service offerings
- Continuously engaging a network of relationships to yield an active referral base of high-quality opportunities
- Working with the Portage Point team (Associates to Managing Directors) to lead execution of all deliverable workflows necessary to consummate transactions for middle market companies undergoing growth, transformation, transition, stress and / or distress
- Reviewing and analyzing client financial statements and projections, financial modeling, accounting, due diligence on balance sheet and P&Ls
- Creating and presenting client deliverables
- Negotiating, documenting and assisting in transaction execution
- Provide coaching and mentorship to junior team members
- Lead internal trainings and best practice sharing
- Lead business development and client relationship efforts
- Support talent acquisition and firm-building initiatives

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a top undergraduate program (Graduate Degree is a plus)
- Located in or willing to relocate to Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Palm Beach or Philadelphia
- Invested in a team-based culture, motivated to collaborate in office four days per week and willing to work at client sites as needed
- 14 plus years of middle market restructuring transaction experience
- Maintains Series 79, 63 and 24 FINRA license or must obtain within 120 days of employment
- Located or willing to self relocate to Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles or New York
- Knowledge of bankruptcy law, valuation and credit agreements
- Experience with privately held and sponsor-backed businesses
- Commanding knowledge of current market terms and trends
- Expertise in project management and client-facing activities, including leading client presentations, business development meetings, developing work plans, planning and execution of work, supervising team and coordinating with other internal and external service providers
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business across a network of corporate relationships, private equity sponsors, lawyers and / or lenders
- Experience supervising other professionals and acting in a manner that that serves to motivate, inspire and develop
- Strong executive presence and communication skills
- Proven ability to thrive in lean, fast-moving teams

- Track record of success in high-pressure, client-facing environments
Compensation
- Highly competitive compensation with quarterly bonus payments, premium health insurance and 401(k) programs
- The City of New York and the State of California require Portage Point to provide annual base salary information for this role. The annual base salary for this role is estimated to be $300,00 per year. This range represents the anticipated base salary for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training, and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances
$1,200,000 - $3,000,000 a year
The City of New York and the State of California require Portage Point to provide compensation for this role. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum cash compensation for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training and / or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
