Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director with excellent communication and customer service skills to work in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters.  The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director will oversee the development and implementation of programs and services that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout PPLA’s workplace culture.  Partner with and support each department to create and sustain a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion within and across our teams. This role will interface with employees at all levels to foster an environment of collaboration, high performance standards, learning and continuous improvement.  Serve as a consultant to management to strengthen cohesion within and among departmental strategies and priorities.  Report to the VP, Human Resources and partner with the HR team to ensure that all stages of the employee lifecycle are in line with PPLA’s DEI strategy and priorities.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:

    • Bachelors’ degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development preferred, or equivalent combination of training and work experience
    • At least seven (7) years of experience as a subject matter expert within the diversity, equity, and inclusion discipline required
    • Healthcare experience preferred
    • Broad thinking and perspective of current diversity, equity, and inclusion trends and change management best practices

About the position:

    • Create strategic agency-wide and business-specific diversity plan, ensuring that PPLA’s vision, goals, and practices are aligned, obtain stakeholder buy-in, and implement plan
    • Develop critical measures of success for DEI strategies, including creating deep insight using data to inform strategy development and guide decision making
    • Communicate risks and issues; manage mitigation plans accordingly
    • Influence the organization’s culture by establishing operating norms and routine tools and practices for all staff
    • Serve as a coach to people managers regarding engagement strategies for diverse talent and building personal narratives around diversity
    • Deliver annual diversity report to be distributed internally and externally
    • Prepare and deliver presentations for agency-wide events/meetings
    • Serve as DEI brand ambassador by elevating themes and messages within our internal strategy and to potential recruits
    • Identify non-traditional sources for diverse talent and build networks with key stakeholder in these sources
    • Identify policies and processes required for the attraction and inclusion of diverse talent and construct recommendations for either modifying existing ones or creating new ones; Participate in talent planning processes to ensure diverse candidate pipelines for roles
    • Build an internal and external network to further knowledge and awareness of industry trends which can in turn influence and facilitate organizational change
    • Collaborate with the VP, Human Resources and VP, Strategy and Advocacy to create and implement DEI strategies and success measures and ensure alignment and consistent messaging
    • Partner with PPLA departments to embed Inclusion skills in all programs, policies, and processes
    • Actively engage with employees to create effective feedback loops around DEI efforts and help to build the path forward for a foundational DEI program and expanding talent management efforts
    • Participate in Human Resources Department staff meetings and provide input about DEI strategy
