Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to work at our downtown headquarters office. Reporting to the Payroll Manager and in collaboration with the Payroll Accountant and Payroll Accounting Analyst, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for all aspects of payroll including, but not limited to the preparation of the bi-weekly payroll for over 700 employees, the associated payroll journal entries, the payroll tax filings, interfacing with ADP on a weekly basis, interfacing with employees on a daily basis and generating a myriad of payroll related reports.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with preference for concentration in accounting or finance or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of at least three (3) years of experience in accounting or finance required.
- Minimum of two (2) years ADP payroll experience, and Enterprise E-Time data and records is preferred.
- Preference for candidate who has experience with ADP Workforce Now and E-time Enterprise.
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll and benefit reporting and payroll tax filing requirements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of California labor law and payroll tax filing requirements.
- Strong systems background required including but not limited to: Excel, Word, and Great Plains strongly preferred.
- Accounting knowledge and experience related to creating all payroll related journal entries and payroll, benefits required, as well as all payroll related accruals including, but not limited to salary, earned time off, payroll tax liabilities and other fringe benefits.
- Ability to read and implement written instructions.
- Ability to prioritize and manage numerous projects at once.

- Must demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail and strong computer and accounting skills are essential.

- Ability and willingness to travel within Los Angeles County.
- Reliable means of transportation for onsite and off-site work.
- If using a personal vehicle to drive for work purposes, a valid CA driver license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
About the Position:
- Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations and by all PPLA employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.
- Perform daily payroll department operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of all payroll transactions.
- Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
- Process bi-weekly payroll for the agency.
- Issue manual payroll checks as needed.
- Assist with monthly reconciliations, including payroll bank accounts and salary-related general ledger accounts.
- Support the Accounting Department in preparing payroll journal entries and related accruals.
- Contacting ADP about payroll errors both in WFN and E-Time.
- Assist with preparation of quarterly reports with the payroll vendor, including but not limited to Federal 941s for the IRS, State of California, and other state payroll reports as needed.
- Audit employee payroll changes
- Maintain and analyze Earned Time Off, including but not limited to earned time off, Worker’s Compensation, 403B and 457(b) payments as required.
- Manage employee benefits and employee garnishments.
- In collaboration with payroll team, support the creation and distribution of annual Federal and State W-2 forms during year-end processing.
- Participate in external audit and reporting processes.
- Generate and distribute reports using payroll reporting and timekeeping systems including but not limited to labor reports as required.
- Provide training on payroll and timekeeping procedures for employees and managers.
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external business partners.

- Hiring range: $32.21 - 38.65 per hour (Non-Exempt)
