Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Payments Poster with excellent administrative skills to work in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters.  The Payments Poster is responsible for timely and accurate posting of all electronic and paper remittances from payers and patients as advised by the accounting department.  Responsible for the posting of routine adjustments, e.g. contractual allowances and referring any credit balances for approval review, as well as balancing payments to control totals as received from accounting.

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • At least two (2) years of collection and receivable experience required
    • Complete understanding of medical remittances, allowances, co-insurances, co-payments, deductibles, and payments
    • Knowledge with various payors – Family PACT, Medi-CAL, HMOs, IPAs, PPOs, POS, EPO, Medicare, etc.

About the position:

    • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.
    • Accurate posting of payment batches into NextGen, including reconciliation to accounting control totals
    • Accurate posting of contractual adjustments for payment batches as defined by our contractual relationships
    • Responsible for ensuring that the final resolution on each line is correct and that the charge line item balance is assigned to the correct category for follow up
    • Ensure that any line items which have been underpaid or no payment has been received are not written off, but are left on the account for follow up
    • Responsible to refer any credit balances created for approval review
    • EOB / Correspondence batch control number must be documented before comments for audit purposes
    • Adjustments must be documented and follow guidelines in the Billing section of the Finance Department policies and procedure manual
    • Responsible to log completed batches appropriately in deposit log
    • Refer any zero line items in payment batch to Billing Manager for appropriate follow up
    • Recognize patterns or trends and inform manager, as well as, offer suggestions for improvement in work flow and processes, revenue collection, etc.
