Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking highly skilled Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, or Certified Nurse Midwives (Per Diem) with great communication skills, clinical skills and a strong emphasis on excellent customer service to see our increasing, diverse patient population.
 
The Clinician IV will join the Patient Services team and provide quality patient care including examinations, diagnosis, treatment, education, counseling, and serve as a medical resource for other licensed and non-licensed staff.  Perform physical exams for both males and females with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examination, pelvic examination, male genital exam, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, Mid-Life Services counseling, examinations and other types of more specialized procedures as indicated by medical policy.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:

    • Current CA Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Certified Nurse Midwife license
    • Current BLS & ACLS certification required from American Heart Association
    • Master’s/Graduate degree required
    • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends (2 Saturdays per month)
    • At least 3 years clinical experience required
    • Laminaria insertion and/or LEEP experience
    • MAB and TAB experience
    • Colposcopy experience
    • NPI number required
    • Ability to maximize health center flow with appropriate utilization of Flow Facilitator
    • Flexibility to be deployed to other sites in case of low volume
    • Be available to work On-Call shifts to provide patient care up to six (6) days annually

About the position:

    • Perform physical exams for both males and females with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examination, pelvic examination, male genital exams, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections, Mid-Life Services counseling, and other types of more specialized procedures as indicated by Planned Parenthood Los Angeles (PPLA) Medical Standards & Guidelines (MS&Gs)
    • Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies as indicated and permitted by PPLA MS&Gs
    • Perform examination and assessment of post-abortion clients including pelvic exams and labs when needed
    • Ability to interpret colposcopy results and/or follow-up plans for patients
    • Maintain PPLA standards of productivity, minimum of 3 visits per hour
    • Recognize and treat minor deviations from the norm using PPLA MS&Gs and consulting with the Program Advisor, Charge Clinician, Senior Director of Clinical Services, Physician, and/or Medical Director as needed
    • Label, dispense, and prescribe all FDA approved birth control methods, including emergency contraception
    • Insertion and removal of IUCs and implants
    • Perform venipuncture, injections, and IV insertions
    • Proficient in microscopy and interpretation of results
    • Complete and maintain Rh, Beta and MAB follow-up logs
    • Train or precept licensed health care professionals as needed
    • Act as a medical resource to and provide oversight of non-licensed staff
    • Provide medication abortion (MAB) services
    • Perform and interpret limited, first trimester obstetric ultrasound to determine gestational dating, such as in the provision of MABs, prenatal care, or the management of early pregnancy complications
    • Perform and interpret second trimester ultrasound
    • Perform surgical abortion pre-operative assessment and recovery room care
    • Perform colposcopy services
    • Perform osmotic cervical dilator (laminaria) insertion for mid-trimester abortion services
    • Perform Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) services
