PPCCC is a trusted provider of high-quality, affordable reproductive health care along California’s Central Coast. Each year, PPCCC provides 35,000 people on the central coast with health care services; including sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control, breast and cervical cancer screenings, vasectomies, and safe and legal abortion care at our six health center locations. PPCCC also provides comprehensive sexuality education programs to help adults and teens make healthy decisions, prevent unintended pregnancies, and avoid sexually transmitted infection.
 

Job Summary
The Staff Physician of the Planned Parenthood California Central Coast (PPCCC) affiliate) will work under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to provide direct patient care, teaching, quality oversight, and to support clinical service expansion especially related to abortion care. For direct patient care, we are recruiting an ob-gyn, to provide family planning, gynecologic, and abortion care. Teaching responsibilities will include oversight of Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) and trainees from local training programs. The Staff Physician will also serve on the Clinical Services team and assist with quality oversight and new services. Specifically, the Staff Physician will work on provider outreach and expansion of services in SLO county and north Santa Barbara County. The Staff Physician will work in collaboration with all health care team members to provide quality reproductive health care to Planned Parenthood patients in accordance with PPCCC medical standards and guidelines. The staff physician will also model professional behaviors and serve as a supervising provider of mid-level licensed professionals. 
 
Service Region: Northern of Santa Barbara County
Schedule: 32-40 hours per week
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides direct medical care in sexual and reproductive health care and primary care services.
- Capable of acting as supervising physician for licensed professionals including Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Certified Nurse Midwives.  Provides medical consultation to licensed professionals and non-licensed professionals regarding the clinical management of specific patients.
- Demonstrate competency in, but not limited to, the following; peer review, quality assurance audits, and laboratory proficiency testing.
- Accurately perform and document comprehensive and focused review of medical history, review of systems, physical exams, ordering/performing/interpreting of appropriate laboratory tests.
- Adherence to abnormal clinical finding protocols listed in PPCCC’s Medical Standards and Guidelines as they relate to timing and types of notifications.
- Must comply with Clinical Services goal of providing excellent customer service by talking with patients in a caring manner and delivering services in an unbiased and non-judgmental manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Center Director and/or Chief Medical Officer or designee.
- Participates in the on-call coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS
 - Strong commitment to the mission, policies, goals, and philosophy of Planned Parenthood; ability to delegate and empower staff effectively. 
- Strong knowledge of sexual and reproductive health care.
- Skills necessary include organization, computer skills, including Word and Excel, strong written and verbal communication skills, a sense of responsibility and high level of motivation.
- Ability to function comfortably in protocol-based practice 
- Demonstrated strong leadership and communication skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
- Strong commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. 
- Preferred 2-3 years’ experience working in a Planned Parenthood health center or other family planning clinic.
- Candidate must travel within PPCCC geographic area (Thousand Oaks to San Luis Obispo).
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- MD/DO license valid in California. 
- Graduate of an Obstetrics and gynecology residency program.
- Current DEA registration
- English-Spanish bilingual skills desirable.
- Experience with Health Care - Electronic Health Records 
Planned Parenthood California Central Coast’s (PPCCC’s) compensation philosophy supports the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Each position has a salary based on market value and the organization’s pay levels.  The starting salary range for this position is $218,533/year - $273,162/year with an opportunity for an increase after six months of employment.  As part of our commitment to pay equity, PPCCC does not negotiate salaries.
Pay Differential: $1.00/hour bilingual Spanish/English differential pay is offered upon passing the language assessment test.
