Position Summary:  This position provides clinical services and support to the Patient Services Department primarily through staffing  the Nurse Advice Line and performing clinical quality chart audits and risk management reporting. Additional responsibilities may include surgical services support, clinical follow-up management, Refill Center Rx verification, and health screenings for new employees as requested or assigned by the Patient Services Management Team. This position will participate in: efforts to achieve established goals for productivity; efforts to achieve affiliate goals on wait time, both in-clinic and on the phone, and adhere to the system for addressing client complaints; adhere to affiliate workplace rules on professionalism; and health center/affiliate efforts to achieve established revenue cycle goals.

Compensation: Starting rate of pay is $28.57 hourly + DOE. Premium pay for bilingual abilities is an additional $1.50 hourly, and is contingent upon passing an in-house oral and written language exam.

Position Details: This is a union represented, hourly (non exempt) position.

Schedule: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk). Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm

Minimum Qualifications:

    • Education commensurate with State of Oregon RN licensure requirements.
    • Current RN license in Oregon. (May require RN licensure in Washington if assigned to provide surgical services support in that state.)
    • 1 year of clinical experience as an RN or 2 years experience as a Clinic Assistant in a PP affiliate or reproductive health work setting. 
    • PP work experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with PPFA Medical Standards and Guidelines, PPCW Medical and Special Services Protocols and Patient Services Department policies and procedures preferred.
    • Background in Risk Management, Quality Improvement, Employee Health or related relevant experience preferred.
    • Professional, positive attitude with proven ability to contribute effectively to highly functioning work teams.

    • Physical requirements: must be able to stand up to 6 hours per day, perform repetitive hand movements (simple & power grasping, fine hand manipulation, & pushing/pulling) up to 4 hours per day, sitting/walking/reaching below and above shoulder height for up to 2 hours per day, bending/twisting neck and bending/twisting at the waist up to 1 hour per day, and moving items weighing up to 100 lbs. up to 1 hour per day.

Essential Functions:

    • Provides efficient high quality patient care on the Nurse Advice Line and in response to post-procedure pager calls. 
    • Supports and maintains compliance with established standards of practice.
    • Maintains productivity with NAL processes and client triage while ensuring that health center processes are followed. 
    • Educates patients regarding issues related to sexuality, STIs, birth control, pregnancy, pregnancy options, reproductive health issues, abortion (surgical and medication), vasectomy, and Adiana. Refers clients to written literature and other information sources upon request.
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the health care field by attending seminars and workshops, and reading relevant material.
    • Understands and participates in the referral/follow-up process.
    • Ensures the Nurse Advice line is being answered in an appropriate manner, calls are returned, and messages are documented and delivered.  Ensures excellent customer service and appropriately refers or resolves customer service issues.
    • Record reviews for new patients seeking follow-up care at PPCW
    • Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Services on Nurse Advice Line service improvement plans.
