Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seek a detail-oriented and dynamic Data Systems and Research Manager. This job reports to the Associate Director, Data, Evidence and Impact, Planned Parenthood Global.
Planned Parenthood Global is the international arm of PPFA that works in partnership with over 70 organizations across ten focus countries throughout Africa and Latin America. Our "Locally Led, Globally Connected" model draws on the expertise of our partners, with an emphasis on those who have been historically marginalized. Each year, our brave partners provide sexual and reproductive health information and services to close to one million people. This position is part of the Global Connect Team (GCT) within Planned Parenthood Global.
Purpose:
This position is responsible for (85%) maintaining and updating PP Global’s data platform MIDES, built on DHIS2; for conducting data cleaning and analysis to measure progress towards our global indicators; and (15%) for providing technical support to colleagues on research activities.
Delivery:
Data Management (85%)
●Manage day-to-day processes and maintenance of MIDES, PP Global’s data management system built on DHIS2
●Conduct system configuration tasks (creation of metadata, dashboards, indicators, data entry forms) and user management; review and advise on refinements to deepen understanding of the platform with a user-focused lens
●Regularly review data, including qualitative data in English, Spanish and French, ensuring completeness, timeliness and quality; communicate data processes and status to ensure coordination and clarity in expectations
●Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of data to measure program and strategic outcomes
●Develop data reports and presentations highlighting progress toward strategic goals
●Review and advise on processes for delivery of MIDES, identify possible improvements to enhance outcomes
●Develop and maintain MIDES training materials, ensuring they are meeting users’ needs and are up to date on team intranet, shared drive, and project management tools.
●Respond to ad hoc data requests for data for donor reports, proposals, and external communications
●Identify technical issues which affect the ideal functioning of MIDES and coordinate directly with external consultants and communities to upgrade the system
and resolve
●Support the development of work plans and manage projects within GCT and across PP Global teams
Research Support: (15%)
●Reviewing research protocols and tools and advise on optimal approaches to incorporate community-centered and equity-focused principles
●Assisting in drafting, writing, or editing papers or manuscripts
●Collaborate with partners and staff to provide training on research and data
Engagement:
●The position participates in weekly meetings with the Global Connect Team, and the Evidence Learning and Impact Team.
●The position independently engages stakeholders across all levels of PP Global and the PPFA National Office to engage on key initiatives and spaces, including Data Equity Reading Group and the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Working Group at PPFA.
●This position works with a variety of stakeholders and colleagues within PP Global, PPFA and our partner organizations to foster interoperability, provide technical support, and assist in overall data management and use.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
●Minimum of 2 years experience in the use of DHIS2 or another data management
system
●2-3 years experience in collaborative review and analysis of global health data
●Experience supporting research projects under various methodologies, preferably in the
context of reproductive health, social justice, or community-based research.
●A deep and demonstrated commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission of promoting
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights globally
●Professional fluency in English and Spanish required
●Knowledge of French preferred but not required
●Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously in cross-cultural settings with
other project and partner organization staff
●Exceptional critical thinking, judgment and analysis skills as it relates to data and
storytelling
●Strong writing skills, including writing and editing articles for publication
●Excellent time management, written and verbal communication, and follow-up skills
●Proficiency in Google products
●Flexibility and ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities and ambiguous situations
●Commitment to PPFA’s mission and diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly

Travel: Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally (approximately 10%)
$80,000 - $90,000 a year
