Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.

Purpose:

The Director of Stewardship & Engagement, President’s Circle, is responsible for creating and executing innovative donor stewardship and high-touch engagement strategies for the President’s Circle donors. Using a high-value content strategy and the tools of Direct Response marketing at scale, the incumbent will be instrumental in upgrading and retaining these valuable donors.

Delivery:

●The candidate will use donor research findings and program metrics to develop innovative donor communication strategies, identify opportunities in the donor journeys, and execute stewardship and engagement plans that deliver an excellent donor experience and increase annual donor retention and revenue.
● Set strategic goals in alignment with department, division and organizational priorities to ensure successful campaigns meet budget expectations.
●Advocates and supports the execution of integrated, multi-channel campaign strategies in collaboration with Direct Response directors and consultants. Leads project development and management for stewardship and cultivation campaigns across channels, including identifying target audiences, timeframes, design, content development and approvals.
●Oversees stewardship and engagement for creative elements and ensures strategic mail plans are executed accurately. Works with internal and external partners to develop collateral, copy and creatives. Originates and authors intellectually rigorous content in specific subject matters when necessary.
●Develops systems for stewardship and engagement analysis and key performance indicators to measure and inform areas of expansion and opportunity.
●Identifies opportunities with Collaborative Fundraising Partners and affiliate leadership for engaging mid-level donors in person. Oversees the execution of two or more
mid-level events by fiscal year.

Engagement:

●Works in collaboration with Development Division colleagues to set strategy and policies needed to accomplish donor-centered goals, refine donor journeys and experiences, and create systems and processes to support donor pipeline development.
●Liaises directly and serves as a partner and a resource for affiliate development departments in cultivating mid-level donors to build bridges and partnerships while improving the donor experience and leveraging the creativity and brand power of our federated structure.
●Organizes, collaborates, and strategizes with other divisions in an effort to engage donor prospects and networks, extend the President’s Circle brand, and strengthen partnerships with partner organizations, The Office of the President, Strategic Partnerships, Corporate Relations, Communications and Culture, Arts and Entertainment, etc.
●Personal representative and point of contact to all mid-level donors. Oversees the President’s Circle email inboxes. Responds to/ resolves conflicts, questions, requests, etc., about specific PPFA priorities, policies, donor service needs, etc. Advises, trains and aligns with Donor Services and Revenue Operations departments to ensure excellent customer service and accurate record keeping for these important donor groups.
●Actively designs work processes, policies, communications, etc. that are rooted in the best practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Uses a DEI lens to adapt the program to meet the goals of equitable and inclusive philanthropy.
●Seeks and actively participates and presents in internal and external workshops and conferences as a recognized subject matter expert, showcasing the President’s Circle’s program value and models leadership to expand knowledge and influence in the field further.
●Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the mid-level stewardship and engagement program and team. Promoting professional development support and supervising a team of two or more.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

●Required to have extensive knowledge of Direct Response, donor communication and cultivation obtained through formal education and substantial work experience. Must have a high level of expertise in all multi-channel direct response techniques to enable candidates to develop strong, reliable fundraising decisions that produce desired results; and that are aligned with the financial and organizational goals.
●Must have an in-depth knowledge of the issues facing PPFA and the operating environment and decisions must consider organizational impact. Must have the ability to work with data systems, tracking, analyses, and forecasting. This involves a high degree of skill with quantitative data. Incumbent must research, analyze and integrate donor information from various sources to determine strategy. Decisions affect program or operational effectiveness, as well as interactions with other departments, divisions, affiliates, offices and/or external partners.
●Will have knowledge of and expertise in SalesForce to include a comprehensive understanding of how the database works and is managed, querying, exporting, and reporting.
●Experience developing and administering a fundraising budget within the larger Direct Response and CFP budgets.
●Bachelor's degree or related equivalent experience required.
●10+ years of directly related, progressively responsible experience with heavy experience in donor communication, development, Direct Response, donor database and program management, and budget. Prefer non-profit advocacy experience.
●Knowledge of direct response and major gift programs. Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to handle matters in a professional manner. Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills. Computer skills must be excellent, including Word, Excel, Google and database applications. Required to demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Travel: 25%+ but < 50%


$130,000 - $140,000 a year
