Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is the national umbrella organization for the nation’s leading network of women’s health care providers, educators, and advocates, serving women, men, teens and families. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is the advocacy and political arm of PPFA. For over 100 years, Planned Parenthood has done more than any other organization in the United States to improve women’s health and safety, prevent unintended pregnancies, and advance the right and ability of individuals and families to make informed and responsible health care decisions.  

We are looking for a Senior or National Director of Organizational Development. This job reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer for PPFA. 


PURPOSE

    • Design and deliver talent and organizational development programs that increases the leadership and organizational effectiveness of the national office
    • Lead new and existing multi-faceted large-scale programs that build interconnectivity between learning, engagement and rewards using comprehensive HR trends that reflect not only current but future talent needs as well
    • Apply research and in-depth knowledge of talent data and practices to deliver solutions in areas such as employee engagement, executive assessment, succession planning, performance, promotion and retention
    • Ensure that all programs are supported by a case for and separately a theory of change, comprehensive stakeholder engagement, measures of success, a communications plan and a project plan roadmap that keeps everything on track and on budget
    • Stay current with emerging and leading edge HR trends and translate what’s happening in the world of work to sound, but bold ideas about how to enhance PPFA’s performance 

DELIVERY

    • HR programs that are fresh, substantive, bold and are backed with a well-planned approach to getting them embedded into the workplace
    • Renewed excitement by the staff that results in higher engagement
    • Work product that reflects a systems approach that connects the relevant disciplines in Human Resources (HR)
    • Strategic yet practical tools and toolkits to the HRBPs to facilitate planning and implementation for successful organizational adoption
    • Incubation of new ideas that promotes a healthy living laboratory environment
    • Deliver high quality communications that elevate and market HR’s value to PPFA 

ENGAGEMENT

    • Consult with senior leaders to identify underlying issues and maximize their groups’ effectiveness
    • Work collaboratively with HRBPs and PPFA divisions to identify critical issues, assess critical needs and recommend, design and/or implement appropriate solutions
    • Promote relationships across the national office where leaders are having common challenges
    • Create opportunities for different executives to co-sponsor OD programs
    • Engage external thought leaders to broaden leadership development

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

    • Masters Degree in Organizational Development/Psychology or related discipline strongly preferred
    • Understands what employees value in an organization, why, and how to respond
    • Demonstrated ability to research, evaluate recommend and design a sound yet bold approach that can succeed in PPFA, then respond to stakeholder input, and execute new programs without compromising the original intent that develop talent
    • Excellent communication and listening skills across cultures and levels of hierarchy
    • Knows how to build relationships and is respected; values harmony but not at the expense of advancing disruptive work that does not help the organization move forward
    • Self-starter with strong analytical and organizational development skills

    • : Expectation for travel is as needed and in line with public health guidelines
