Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund seeks a Vice President of Corporate Engagement to lead initiatives that will engage corporate audiences around sexual and reproductive issues and access, harness corporate support for health care provision and advocacy, and leverage trusted brands to create lasting change. This position reports to the SVP of Communications and Culture, and leads the Corporate Engagement vertical within the Communications and Culture division.
Purpose:
● Act as the strategic leader for the Corporate Engagement team, ultimately responsible for the team’s success
● Devise and execute a national corporate action plan, that is connected to state fights, and that motivates corporate partners to demonstrate their support for our brand and sexual and reproductive health
● Outline a national long-term plan to engage corporate partners and their senior leadership for the sake of internal company policy and external policy change, in service of our decades-long organizational and movement goals
● Develop a vision, new business opportunities, a roadmap, and key metrics for corporate engagement and accountability (including employee engagement, senior leader engagement, and other stakeholder engagement)
● Manage an extensive portfolio of corporate supporters, prospects, and coalition members January 2022
● Educate current and prospective corporate partners on our issues, helping them understand how and why they should engage
● Prospect, cultivate, and work directly with senior leaders in corporations across the U.S. to provoke action within their companies
● Tap into personal network to introduce Planned Parenthood to new corporate partners and expand Planned Parenthood’s business network
● Design, sustain, and manage a comprehensive and innovative corporate engagement program at Planned Parenthood
● Act as a consultant to Policy, Campaigns, and Advocacy teams in regards to corporate accountability strategy and tactics
● Lead, mentor, and support an internal corporate engagement team, currently comprised of three direct reports
● Oversee the Corporate Engagement departmental budget
Delivery:
● Translate organizational needs into business engagements that drive change
● Empower the Corporate Engagement team, and other PPFA teams who engage with the business community, to develop new ideas, pursue new challenges, and make lasting contributions to our organization and movement
● Think creatively to develop compelling business proposals, presentations, and materials that align with PPFA and partner brand positioning
● Jump into the work and motivate the team to do the same
Engagement:
● Work closely with PPFA senior leadership, CNC divisional leadership, PCA divisional leadership, Board members, affiliate leadership, and other stakeholders, as well as external partners, to support national and affiliate advocacy goals, initiatives, and campaigns
● Manage partner and vendor relationships to build capacity and extend the scope of the internal team
● In collaboration with the Senior Vice President of Communications and Culture, identify team resourcing needs and develop a team structure, including new positions and budget requirements, to meet the organizational needs Effective Date: September 2022 2
● Sit on the Communications Senior Leadership Team, representing the Corporate Engagement team within the leadership of the Communications and Culture division
● Translate organizational strategy into on-brand corporate strategies and campaigns, incorporating feedback and insights from stakeholders, and ensuring consensus around engagement and distribution strategies
● Navigate the ever-changing needs of a complex, multifaceted organization
● Keep abreast of the latest advocacy and corporate trends, bringing those inspirations to the team
● Ability to adjust priorities as often as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
● 15+ years experience in corporate-focused advocacy, business development, non-profit partnerships, and/or fundraising, with promotion to leadership roles
● Deep rolodex of businesses and corporations who may want to engage with Planned Parenthood, and around the full spectrum of sexual and reproductive health
● Experience cultivating and fostering significant corporate partnerships
● Proven experience renewing corporate partnerships and increasing corporate participation over time
● Experience with purpose-driven, advocacy-focused campaigns that engages corporate partners and drives action
● Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop productive working relationships across a diverse spectrum of partners and colleagues
● Experience working in/or for a non-profit organization, political organization, or federated model a plus
● Proven experience representing and reaching organizations that connect with BIPOC communities, young people, and LGBTQ+ audiences
● Experience managing direct reports through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion
● Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines successfully
● Collaborative spirit, diplomatic work style, and solutions-focused attitude
● Passion for and understanding of the mission of PPFA/PPAF
TRAVEL : 10 - 20%
The starting salary range for this position is $200,000 - $220,000 .
