Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund seeks a dynamic and strategic Director of Data Stewardship & Architecture. This job reports to the Senior Director of Data Strategy & Analytics in the Development Division and Direct Response Department of PPFA. The Data Strategy and Analytics team supports the Development division in all data and analytics functions for fundraising at the National office and several Planned Parenthood affiliates.

Purpose:

The Director of Data Stewardship & Architecture is responsible for managing data engineering, data governance, and data stewardship initiatives.
●Leads and manages data management projects, including data stewardship, data quality, data lifecycle management, and data stewardship initiatives.
●Ensures that our data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and secure, and that data stewardship practices are effectively implemented and maintained
●Oversees the design, development, and maintenance of the division's data architecture, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines.
●Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of data infrastructure to support division goals
●Manages the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, quality, privacy, and security.
●Oversees data stewardship programs, including the definition of data standards, data quality metrics, and data lineage.

Delivery:

The Director of Data Stewardship & Architecture oversees the organization’s data management initiatives, ensuring that data is effectively managed, governed, and utilized across the division. 
●Defines and executes the data engineering and data stewardship strategy aligned with the organization’s objectives.
●Drives innovation in data management practices, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
●Develops and manages the data engineering and stewardship budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
●Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation for data management processes, policies, and procedures.
●Prepares and presents regular reports on data management program status, metrics, and outcomes to executive leadership and stakeholders.

Engagement:

The Director of Data Stewardship & Architecture will work with fundraising strategists, non-technical internal partners, technical internal partners, vendor partners, and other stakeholders
●Leads and mentors a team of data management professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback. Leads a team of data engineers and stewards, providing mentorship, performance management, and career development opportunities.
●Collaborates with software engineering, analytics, and business teams to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate data solutions
●Works closely with stakeholders across the organization to identify and prioritize data initiatives.
●Promotes data literacy and awareness across the division through training and communication efforts.
●Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the data management team.
●Identifies training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge
●Serve as the primary point of contact for data management program inquiries and updates.
●Bridges the gap between business and business stakeholders, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and according to established quality standards

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): 

●10+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles, with at least 4 years in a leadership position.
●5+ years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, and data management best practices.
●5 + years experience as a delivery Project Manager on Data Warehouse, Data Governance, Business Intelligence, and Analytics projects
●Proven experience in managing complex data management projects and initiatives
●Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality principles, and data management best practices.
●Proficiency with data warehousing solutions, data lakes, ETL processes, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
●Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
●Strong knowledge of database management systems (e.g
●Familiarity with data governance tools and platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica).
●Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, PMP).
●Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
●Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
●Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
●Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to addressing challenges and opportunities.

Travel: No more than 15% 

$140,000 - $150,000 a year
