Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey, Inc. (PPNCSNJ) provides comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care, abortion services, education and information to women, men and teens at 17 health centers throughout 18 counties in New Jersey.
Our vision is to ensure our organization models inclusivity and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) through its services, internal operations, organizational culture, and in its work with partners and the community. The Director of Equity and Belonging will actively participate in the development of a comprehensive DEIB program. This person will provide overall leadership and management in the implementation of the organization’s DEIB strategy, including development and implementation of the annual work plan and annual progress report.
-Provides leadership and consultation at all levels of the organization to overcome barriers and identify and implement policies that advance the work and meet goals.
-Trains internally and externally as appropriate on topics such as diversity and inclusion, racial equity, belonging, LGBTQ inclusivity, etc.
-Assists in the coordination of DEIB trainings and programs, including scheduling, logistics/preparation, materials, technical set up and troubleshooting, on-site coordination, and follow-up (e.g drafting agendas and post-meeting follow-up correspondences, etc.).
-Partners closely with clinical services and medical VPs to ensure professional development of health center staff.
In coordination with HR, identifies and researches potential DEIB issues within the organization.
-Supports the administering of employee engagement survey, among other staff engagement and informational surveys.
-Leads DEIB Champions program.
-Assists with communication efforts as needed by partnering with internal Marketing and Communications team to influence creative direction and create content for DEIB communications both internal and external.
-Adeptly facilitates organizational-wide DEIB learning sessions and critical conversations (virtually and in-house) to promote cultural understanding and competency, and a climate of DEIB throughout the organization.
-Participates in the new employee onboarding process, delivering various DEIB trainings during orientation.
-Identifies and helps research potential DEIB issues within the organization.
- Communicates requests for ongoing training and in-service needs as needed.
- Partners with other staff and departments to assess with DEIB needs.
- Supports projects related to the development, implementation, and oversight of the health equity.
- Works creatively and continuously to name opportunities for people most impacted by inequalities to participate in solution development.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- BA/BS Degree in related field
- 5+ years’ experience in DEIB program management.
