Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey, Inc. (PPNCSNJ) provides comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care, abortion services, education and information to women, men and teens at 17 health centers throughout 18 counties in New Jersey.

The Director of Government Relations is a senior strategist, lobbyist, and project manager who serves as one of our primary representatives with multiple community coalitions and with key stakeholders ranging from elected officials and leaders in various state agencies such as the DOE, DOH, DHS, in addition to working with foundations and donors that want to partner and invest in increasing access to sexual and reproductive health care in NJ.  The position requires travel across the state and work during nights and weekends.
 
The Director of Government Relations performs a wide range of duties, including, but not limited to the following:
 
·       As a senior member of the government relations team, represent Planned Parenthood at the NJ Capitol including testifying at hearings, leading elected official meetings, and speaking with the press.
·       Serve as the Planned Parenthood representative on assigned state-wide and local coalitions to reduce health disparities and move the needle on sexual and reproductive health priorities.
·       Partner with government relations team to develop PP’s policy priorities using a health equity and reproductive justice lens as you shape our priorities, strategies and messaging.
·       Create fact sheets, draft op-eds and other materials in partnership with the communications team to share our story and persuade stakeholders to take action.
·       Provide trainings for staff, board members and volunteers to engage in our public policy campaigns.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree. Commensurate senior management experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 
 
Minimum Work Experience: 3-5 years of successful senior management level experience in nonprofit advocacy, political environments or legislative environments.    
 
Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license. Reliable transportation to travel throughout the service area.
