When you join PPGNY as the Medical Director, Upstate New York, you will provide oversight of clinical services, training, quality of care, and regulatory compliance in the 16 health centers located in the Mid-Hudson Valley, Central New York, Southern Finger Lakes, North Country, and Capital District. You will collaborate with and provide clinical consultation to the region’s advanced practice clinicians, and provide direct supervision to the region’s session physicians. You will participate as a member of the affiliate-wide medical leadership team in the ongoing enhancement of standardization, quality, safety, equity, and experience of clinical care across PPGNY.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Provides direct clinical services as needed including but not limited to: surgical abortion to 14+0 weeks’ gestation, ultrasonography for abortion and contraceptive care, contraceptive care, sexually transmitted disease screening, testing and treatment
- Participates in updates to and implementation of the PPGNY Medical Standards and Guidelines
- Establishes and maintains relationships within the local medical community, including maintaining referral list
- Holds collaborative agreements with Upstate NY Advanced Practice Clinicians per regulatory guidelines and performs required chart audits
- Oversees and participates in the orientation, privileging, supervision, performance review, and chart audits of Upstate NY Staff
- Participates in the training and education of clinical staff as needed, including residents and fellows, physicians, nurses and advanced practice clinicians
- Serves as the physician liaison to external training programs and academic institutions in Upstate NY Region
- Works with the Chief Medical Officer and the VP of Patient Safety and Quality to develop and oversee systems to ensure superior patient experience and clinical quality improvement in the Upstate NY Region
- Drives implementation of practice changes based on audit findings, review of incidents and quality indicators
- Collaborates with Compliance and Patient Safety and Quality teams to foster continuous practice improvement. Participates in the development and monitoring of corrective action plans for Upstate NY Region and in internal evaluations and audits
- Participates in quality assurance activities, including debriefings, root cause analyses and peer reviews
You have:
- Graduate of an accredited medical school and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology or family medicine
- Three (3) years of experience as an attending physician with experience in reproductive health care
- Current New York State license
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to manage and mentor a culturally diverse team, including creating and sustaining an organizational culture that fosters inclusiveness and equity, and providing positive and developmental feedback and accountability related to practices including but not limited to equity
- Ability to provide compassionate, non-judgmental, and culturally responsive care across race, class, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin or ability; and demonstrates deep sense of accountability to patient experience
What makes you stand out:
- A minimum of five (5) years management experience in a health care setting (ambulatory preferred)
- Proficient in one or more of the following sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services: gender affirming hormone therapy, rapid-initiation of ART, surgical abortion to 19 6/7 weeks
Compensation
- $225,000-275,000

Proof of immunization or immunity to certain communicable diseases (including influenza during the flu season and Covid-19) and testing for tuberculosis. These certifications are required by the NYC DOHMH Health Code, NYSDOH and OSHA.
