POSITION SUMMARY
Works in conjunction with and provides hands on training in sonography as directed. Performs basic ultra-sound pregnancy and IUD localization studies using Real-Time scanner

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
DIRECT PATIENT CARE 95%
1. Performs abdominal and vaginal ultrasound scans on all referred patients to estimate gestational duration and localize the pregnancy, the placenta, and IUDs according to the PPGNY MS&Gs for Ultrasound Services.
2. Performs intra-operative sonography at medical provider’s request, as needed for services provided by PPGNY.
3. Provides medical providers with follow-up sonograms, as needed for services provided by PPGNY.
4. Prepares all associated required ultrasound documentation and accompanying imags for provider interpretation and the medical record.
5. Orders supplies as needed and keeps room stocked.
6. Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in meeting established goals for productivity
7. Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in achieving established revenue cycle goals. 
8. Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in health care center efforts to comply with all organizational and quality assurance guidelines, and all applicable government regulations
9. Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in overall health center efforts to achieve all goals set to improve customer relations, increase customer satisfaction and promote repeat customer visits.
10. Understands and commits to modeling excellent customer service in all aspects of health care delivery. Accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in overall health center efforts to achieve goals and policies on professionalism, wait time in the clinic/on the phone, and the system for addressing client complaints.
11. Meets Clinical Services Standards of Behavior.
12. Understands and commits to customer-oriented approach to health care delivery.
13. Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies, and standard practices in the areas of ADA and regulatory compliance programs such as HIPAA.
14. Works effectively with volunteers, trainees and temp agency personnel.
15. Performs other educational and experience related duties as required.

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES 5%
1. Under the direction of Medical Leadership, performs hands-on training in sonography at all of PPGNY’s Medical Centers and off-site.
2. Under the direction of Medical Leadership, observes and determines individual training needs.
3. Participates in evaluation as related to the provision of sonography
4. As directed, assists in program/curriculum development in training for sonography.
5. As directed, assists in training and orientation of newly employed clinical staff at all levels. 6. Serves as liaison between MLT and sonographers for implementation of sonography related practice updates.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum education 
    • High school diploma/GED 
      Certification as a sonography technician in New York State.
    • Requires a minimum of 3 (three) years of related and/or applicable experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in sexual and reproductive healthcare organizations 
    • Experience with training preferred.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMAND

    • Requires prolonged sitting and repetitive tasks including use of a computer. Frequent standing, walking, bending. Must be able to walk up and down stairs. Requires lifting or moving of patients/supplies/equipment. Visual acuity sufficient to perform frequent work on a computer screen and review printed reports and other materials. Requires the ability to hear and to communicate orally with others. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, and medical equipment and will require reaching, grasping, pushing and pulling.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

    • This job operates in a professional office environment. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions in a health center environment. May require travel to other health centers, at times in inclement weather. Requires flexible schedule and during peak activity periods work in excess of 7.5 hours per day and/or 37.5 hours per week.
$50.17 - $50.17 an hour
