PPGR currently has an opening for a Environmental Services Technician. This is a full-time, benefited position at the Fairview Heights location. Starting Pay is $17.25/hour

POSITION TITLE:  Environmental Services Technician
STATUS:                   Full Time, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO:        Manager of Facility and Security

POSITION SUMMARY
 
Responsible for performing a variety of duties requiring proper methods and supplies for the environmental cleaning of affiliate administrative building and health centers.  Work involves occasional strenuous tasks, variations of temperature, reaching, some stretching and heavy lifting and good physical stamina.  Responsible for maintaining high level of cleanliness and disinfection for administrative, clinical and surgical areas using chemical agents and cleaning equipment.   Operates equipment and manages supplies to ensure sanitary conditions in all environmental areas.  Follows infection prevention procedures, safety precautions and uses personal protective equipment.  Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing surgical services and/or health centers reception, clinical areas and procedure rooms following established policies and procedures to maintain high standards of cleanliness.  Weekend hours may be required.



 
PRIMARY DUTIES PERFORMED 
Cleans all floors, walls, restrooms
Replenishes supplies where necessary
Removes trash
Dusts, polishes furniture, woodwork and blinds
Moves furniture and equipment to clean behind them
Cleans and maintains administrative office area
Cleans and maintains clinical areas, exam and procedure rooms
Cleans all floors, walls, restrooms, stairwells
Cleans/disinfects horizontal services
Uses facility approved, EPA registered disinfectant supplies
Follows manufacturer’s guidelines for use of cleaning solutions
Cleans/disinfects public touch areas
Completes cleaning lists as assigned
Follows  Standard (Universal) Precautions  for handling waste in clinical areas including contaminated sharps, laundry and other potentially  infectious materials
Performs appropriate hand hygiene
Re-establishes safe, clean environment
Follows surgical center  cleaning guidelines
Ensures Environmental Services Technicians compliance with the above
Performs other duties as required      
 
RISK MANAGEMENT AND QUALITY ASSURANCE 
Adheres to PPGR's and department policies that ensure the provision of the highest quality and most professional services to all PPGR clients
Protects PPGR's assets from liability
Assures for the physical safety of PPGR clients, staff, and volunteers
Follows Agency/Departmental Infection Control Policies and Procedures
Protects confidentiality of all PPGR clients, donors, Board and all areas of operations
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment
Good verbal, listening and problem solving skills
Knowledge of materials and methods used for cleaning medical/surgery facility 
Skill in operating vacuum cleaners, buffers and other janitorial equipment.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all other staff
