POSITION SUMMARY

Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts seeks a leader to support and grow the ASPIRE (Advancing Science and Practice through Innovations in Research and Education) Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health (“ASPIRE”). ASPIRE is an innovative, high-impact research and training center that launched in 2022 to bring together PPLM's nationally recognized research, clinical training, and professional education programs to create powerful synergies and multiply PPLM's impact. ASPIRE’s vision is to advance excellence and equity in sexual and reproductive health care, access, training, and education nationwide.

ASPIRE is seeking a Director with the experience, leadership skills, and passion to amplify PPLM’s content experts’ vision in the fields of research, professional education, and clinical training.

The Director of the ASPIRE Center will ensure that ASPIRE realizes its vision as well as provides leadership to advance the strategic intersection of its three core elements (research, clinical training, and professional education) through the lens of health equity. ASPIRE works with a broad range of partners, including academic institutions, teaching hospitals, health care professionals, social service and community-based organizations, schools, educators, and peer institutions, to create powerful synergies, offer new cross-sector trainings, and multiply PPLM's impact nationally.

The Director will report to PPLM’s Chief External Affairs Officer and will work closely with the Vice President of Research and Clinical Training; the Vice President of Education, Learning & Engagement; and the Director of Social Science Research. The Director’s primary role will be to understand, integrate, and amplify our content experts’ vision, to strengthen our existing programs and initiatives, support ASPIRE’s growth and manage ASPIRE’s operations within PPLM. Though familiarity with the field is helpful, the Director is not expected to be a content expert. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the oversight of ASPIRE, including overall operations, administration, internal communications and reporting, ensuring it is aligned with PPLM's vision and the current strategic priorities of the organization and expertise of our content experts.
    • Collaborates closely with PPLM's VP of Education, Learning & Engagement; VP of Research and Clinical Training; and other key stakeholders to determine programmatic execution of ASPIRE's vision and business plan.
    • Working closely with other PPLM leaders (e.g., Advocacy, Education, and Health Center), establishes strategic partnerships to meet the vision and growth expectations of ASPIRE.
    • Identifies and secures funding opportunities to support ASPIRE teams.
    • Assists with program design to expand the scope of PPLM’s in-clinic and in-classroom training offerings.
    • Responsible for effectively managing ASPIRE’s budget and leading the annual budgeting process in collaboration with content experts and other key stakeholders.
    • Executes and grows the business plan of ASPIRE, balancing competing resource requirements within ASPIRE to ensure alignment with mission and vision objectives.
    • Participates in external reproductive health and sexuality networks focused on research, education, and training.
    • Working closely with PPLM’s marketing and communications teams, identifies opportunities to amplify the work of the ASPIRE teams and content experts (conferences, media, press etc.).
    • Manages the ASPIRE Center’s Advisory Council, including recruitment and selection of new members and managing the Council’s biannual meetings.
    • Supervises one Project Manager and interns.
    • Other tasks and responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree and/or related experience required
    • MBA, MPH, MPA or similar master’s level degree preferred
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of successful leadership that includes business planning and program execution in an interdisciplinary environment
    • Commitment to PPLM's mission and goals
    • Experience in and commitment to promoting health equity required
    • Experience in sexual and reproductive health, health care, maternal and child health, LGBTQIA+ health, sexuality education, or public health practice preferred
    • Excellent analytical skills, computer skills, and managerial skills
    • Experience with grant writing or securing program funding preferred
    • Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships and advocate on ASPIRE’s behalf with internal and external stakeholders
    • Must be highly organized with the ability to perform consistently while managing multiple competing priorities
    • Inspirational leader with the ability to communicate organizational vision, develop and follow-through on ideas, and lead staff
    • Some national travel required (estimated less than 15%)
$90,000 - $110,000 a year
